FWIW….I thought I would pass along something I found today. If you are using the old school (yup, that’s me) Vickerman seating dies and experiencing inconsistancies with plastic tipped bullets, check the relief hole diameter and depth in the seating punch. In both my 25 and 6mm Vickermans the plastic tips were bottoming/topping? out in the relief hole. I measured the diameter of the plastic at the junction of the jacket and plastic and then drilled the relief hole .015” bigger in dia. and 1/8” deeper. The seating punches are soft enough to drill in the lathe with new hss drills. OAL’s are now within .0005” Over the ogive. These dies were made long before the long pointy bullets came onto the scene and were perfect for bullets of their day.
