Veterans Day

I got out 50 years ago this last summer, I was 20 years old. I couldn't even legally buy a beer. For our 50th high school class reunion they had information handouts, wifes name, kids, current address, military service, ect. We had a lot of vets from that class, I am surprised at all the girls from our class that enlisted right out of school.

You look back and wonder if it was real or a dream.

TODAY IS THE 10 OF NOVEMBER 2019
TODAY IS THE 244 BIRTHDAY OF THE
UNITED STATES MARINE CORPS

Last Memorial Day my wife and I visited the Black Hill National Veterans Cemetery where here uncle rests and upon returning home to NW SD noticed the flag pole and flag was looking a little tired at the Veterans Memorial in our local cemetery where her father rests.

We started and helped raise the money for a new 40' pole and flags and on a cold snowy day in late October saw it through to erecting the pole and letting some local Veterans raise the flag.

Our oldest son served in the USMC in Afghanistan and we were proud to help do this to honor all veterans here and gone!

Thank you all for your service and sacrifice to the rest of us!

Edit, anyone considering a pole and flags should contact Jim at www.ndflagpoleguy.com Jim is a veteran and takes great pride in his business and the services he offers. I'm not affiliated just a very satisfied customer.

This morning after mass had ended one of the ushers came to the front of the altar with a flagpole with our flag. A young girl recited the Flag of Allegiance. As I stood there with my hand over my heart, looking at the flag I wondered to myself how many of these people standing here know the feeling of seeing our flag on a battlefield. I must admit a tear was rolling down my cheek as I thought about all the men and women that have died serving our great country. To my friends, Donald, Rick, Eddie, and John. Rest easy my brothers. They lost their lives in Vietnam. I hate war with every ounce of my body.
Very touching to say the least and I no that feeling . Thank you
