Very nice contrast

We just finished painting a pre-fluted bolt for a customer just like the your example. What a pain to do after the fluting operation. It took a lot of time but the look was worth it!
 
There is NO DOUBT of the excellent work you perform! Who would have thought that so many variations of a "bolt" could be made and made with such "machine artistry"!
 
Looks great, Paul. I like that combo. Wish I could do work like that. I'm just a wood worker and I'm too old to start metal.;)

I've painted fluted barrels, a steel ball bearing works great to cut the tape at the edges of the flutes. Just tape it good down in there, then run the ball down the flute until it gets through the tape!
