I used Lapua brass and loads backed way way down and swapped extractors,,bought headspace gauge and everything checked out good it just would not extract,,some say the chambers are rough,,,I think the Hornady brass is a scape goat,,I shot the same loads with PPU,Hornady and Lapua brass and it all stuck,,shot the exact loads on the exact same brass up over book max in a TRG with no problems,,

if you have one that will function they shoot great,,but if it wont extract you are probably not gonna get any satisfaction,,

I've toyed with this rifle a little. Usually a couple times a year. Gave up on R33 and the noslers and tried h1000 and 300 bergers. Got back today and noticed my scope had slid forward a good half inch. Hummm. I think they are Burris extreme 6 screw rings. That definitely don't help matters.

Check your scope base screws.

Yep gonna pull it down and check. Base is bedded with jbweld. Got a fresh bottle of loktite 243.

On a side note shot 83, 84, 85, and 85.5gr of the h1000 and all had sooty necks. 85 was about 1in group (vertical of course) the others sucked and mostly vertial on them.

Max is around 92 grains with a 300 Sierra and those loads are probably light. In my experience with the 338 Lapau and IMP versions, they liked it near max for your gun and chamber. Mine also liked the bullet in the lands a little. Alot of them also liked Re33 better. 100 FPS or more velocity and less pressure. Very accurate at 1000 yards. Matt

I have always adjusted powder charge to correct vertical stringing. It almost always required more powder to correct.

There's a reason 375+ caliber double rifle bore axes an inch or more apart at the muzzles cross 20 to 40 yards down range. Lots of bore axis angle to LOS changing while bullets are pushed out the barrel.

Same with heavy recoiling bolt guns, but in the vertical plane.

Posted another thread about how my scope had moved and I tried the label trick on the bottom rings. While cleaning the barrel I noticed the stock was loose as well. Took the stock off and smoked it over and put it back on. Noticed it would rock front to back on the front portion of the action at the recoil lug. Torqued it at 40inlb front screw first but I did put rear screw in first with slight tension. Would this be a good candidate for a skim bed on the action? To be transparent that is something I've never done before. Maybe these horrible groups just have some simple solutions. I had lost all heart with this rifle.

Savage 110fcp 338lm weaver superslam scope burris extreme 6 screw rings. R33 20 thou off lands fed mag primer 300gr nosler comp factory second bullets in neck sized ppu brass. First time in a leadsled shoulder been sore for a few months. Applied slight down pressure to stock to finagle crosshairs on target ever so slightly. Think thats where i went wrong. Normaly shoot off of bipod with support under stock. Ignore 2 shots at very bottom. Edit: clicked up from far left to make sure everything was on paper.

That was only used while I had shoulder injury. I don't own one

Big guns are harder to shoot period. I run a 338 Imp. with the 300 grain Bergers and Reloder 33. I won't post the charge weight.
But my experience is it likes a max load. Be careful as you can push past a node with 33 and tough Lapua brass. Mine likes the OTMs Jam. 010 or jumped .045.

As soon as the man said leadsled nothing else mattered. Except that now his scope maybe broken.
Leadsled = vertical, the gun can only recoil upwards.
