- Vendor Report

Being a retired dealer, I seem to remember that there are/were Federal and probably many State laws dealing with the use of Firearms and Firearms Licenses to illegally "appropriate" or "encumber?" funds/monies. Many years ago, a wholesaler started "hustling" firearms order money in advance and then just not delivering. Anyway, it was nothing more than a fraudulent "scam" which hurt alot of the gun dealers. I would suggest an information call to the appropriate authorities if you suspect such activity.

Well the ongoing saga,
who lives in Montana who can go around and shake someone I will refrain from abuse as like i told them it isnt going to chang anything.
Here is the latest and my permit to import has expired so have to reapply and when it arrives send it to the company that now has my $6,000 worth of actions. Who will then apply for an export permit which i think takes minimum of 2 months i may as well just bash my head against a brick wall.
And no i will definate ly not be dealing with this company ever again. This is part of the email.

I shipped out the actions and the bases along with the 3 jewel triggers. The problem is that when I called the exporters to let them know that your package was on the way they said that they do not have a permit for your actions. I told them that I sent it to them the day after I got it from you. So I double checked your file and I do not have your paper work. We have never had this problem before, they have always received the paper work and when I've called to let them know it was on the way everything was set to go. But they never got your paperwork that I sent them. So, I had actually sent your paperwork with another company's paperwork and there actions are do to ship at the end of the month. Anyway, the exporters say that you need to send them the paper work and they will get started right away to apply for the permit.

As far as Gunsmiths go I use Bob Green in York Pa.,address and contact info on Gunsmiths link on this home page).
Bob is a stand up guy. He requests everything in writing "So you're both on the same page" and when Bob quotes you a delivery time you can bet it will be on time or early.
Bob is a full time gunsmith operating in the basement of his home. He's totally honest, honorable, fair in pricing, and does very fine work. He actually answers his phone! If you leave a message on his machine he actually calls you back, and yes he does answer each and every e-mail.
If you are looking for a top notch gunsmith give him a call.

OH BOY,
This only gets better now the company who they have sent the actions to that exports them is closed till next wednesday so there is no way to talk to them and get conformation that the actions are even there.
Does anyone know someone from Leroys Big city guns can get me a contact number so i can verify and just see who lost what and what paperwork they now need and how long this painfull experience will be drawn out.

Well it only gets worse but at least Leroy`s on the ball and has contacted me from the email i sent.
It seems he has had nothing from Lawtons till the phone call to tell them the action were on the way.
And as i expected now we start the whole process over again just waiting for confirmation on what they need but will definitely be a new Permit to Import from this end everything else we have such as dealers license copy order copy even Invoice for the actions marked paid.
Depending on how long it takes to get a new permit this end which normally takes at least 10 working days should have one by Maybe the 21st if we are relay lucky as they do close over Christmas.
Then we must mail the original to Leroy`s from that point it will take approx 8 weeks to get the export requirements.
Then we may get the actions Lets say MARCH 2008 at the earliest.
Am i pissed off? You bet i am! Is there anything i can do about it? Probably absolutely nothing as any legal action is just going to cost and make some lawyer happy. All i can do is let people know off the absolute incompetence of these people.
Their total disregard for their customers. And it has just dawned on me the money i paid for the export and freight on these actions was supposed to have gone to Leroy's 6 months ago as well, something else to look into.

I really hate to bring this to the top again . But here is a post from another forum.

I'd think it would be safe to say that if you have not been able to contact the barrel maker and he has made no attempt to contact you, and nobody else knows where he is, then he is probably out of business and getting in contact with him is not going to offer you any relief. I know that it's not a pleasant situation to be in and it's a good bit of money lost but these things happen. I'm sorry you're having these problems and if I could solve them for you I would do it in a heartbeat. Over the years I've seen a few others just disappear so it does happen at times.

Don't let the cost of a barrel dominate your life and ruin the good parts that you've experienced.

This is about a barrel maker that everyone thinks that is so great . And the last two lines of that statement really gripes my @$$ . You can't say anything about this barrel maker because all the big shooters and gunsmiths are friends of his. So that makes it ok to give him $325 for a bad barrel, or never even get a barrel. You know, not everyone has that kind of money. I'll probably get riped for this, but it makes me mad that some people just think it's ok that you got riped off by their friend and that you should just write it off as a experience.

Sorry I had to come over here and pop off.

Art,
I consider you a buddy, but I will disagree. Neither myself or probably Mickey also have never used that guys barrels or even know who he is.
All Mickey said was he was sorry for the guy that lost his money and he needed to get on with his life. He didn't say a thing about taking up for the barrel maker.
I agree with you that the guy wasn't treated right.

Guys on a good note. This is getting away from actual actions and barrels a little but I guess some good and kind words are in order. I'd just like to take a min. and say that Mr. Wally Brownlee is a stand up guy. He makes a fine rifle rest. I purchased one of his 1000 series rest and it is jam up. I like the way it feels and it don't get in your way as far as holding your gun. It is adjustable front and rear legs and windage also. I would reccomend the 1000 series over anything I have used, bar none. I have only had the chance to shoot a couple of times from the rest but so far I have found no fault with it.
Wally's web-site is TargetShootingInd.com I think. Just my 2 cents. Bill

Butch, thanks.

That is a shame, seems as though the poster there has taken the high road though, and that is to be commended.

I see too many folks that simply cannot let something go, and it just becomes such an issue to them that they will not shut up about it. It grows very old. Holding grudges is not worth the mental energy it takes...

Yelp, You are all right. Don't know why I brought it to the top again. And now I have a black mark. Said I'd be sorry.

Thank you Leupold.
Sent two scopes to Leupold about 3 weeks ago. Both scopes were bought new in 1984. Within a week after shipping I got a post card that they had arrived but they would be closed between Christmas and new years. One scope came back last week and the other one today. Both were inspected and repaired as needed.
Even with Christmas shipping delays only 3 weeks from date shipped to returned.
