Velocity versus wind resistance in bullet choice for PD's?

I have been shooting my 6.5 Creedmoor for long range PD shooting, with my best (luckiest) being at a laser measured 830 yards. I did get one at over a 1000 yards, but did not have an accurate laser range.

Anyway, the barrel and twist of my 6.5 Creedmoor are best suited for shooting 140gr bullets, which also have the highest BC. On the other hand I can go lighter, with more speed, but less wind resistance. Right now, at short ranges my loads are best tuned for the 140 gr. bullets.

Is there any advantage other than the "splat" for going with lighter bullets? I suppose barrel life might be better with the lighter bullets, but I am looking more for max accuracy and wind resistance.

Any help?

With lighter bullets you have less kick. That lets you see the "show" thru your scope when flips and acrobatics happen.

Why would barrel life be better if you're running both bullets at the same pressure. If anything, it could be worse with lighter ones as you're probably gonna be burning more powder.

If most shots are under 400yds, it wouldn't hurt to try some ~123gr bullets like the A-Max which def has some splat factor
