Vehicle Oil Filter Recommendations?

What's your go to oil filter?

I've been using Wix for years but recently had couple of guys say they are junk and had their motors lose all oil pressure because of a Wix filter failure.

Factory filter no exceptions.
Always keep warranties in mind if you are still under warranty.
Just as important is your choice of oil.
Understanding that only what’s written in the ‘donut’ is what counts.
Don’t want to open a can of worms as this subject surely can.

motorcraft filters are great if you have a ford use them!

outside that just stay away from fram. you can go watch video after video of the junk inside them.
Typical inner neck BS. My Duramax has 325,000 on it and my Corolla has 298,000 on it. If what you are saying is true I can change brands and double my mileage?? I've been in the business for almost 60yrs and this BS stuff comes up all the times on car forums.

Butch what’s your thoughts on the life of belts and hoses on the more modern cars now, or even changing out a water pump that isn’t bad yet?
We have a 2013 Expedition with close to 150,000 on it, and would like to keep it going without a sudden surprise on a trip. Thanks!

That is a good question. Belt and hose change would be a good insurance policy before a long trip and your mileage. Water pump?? It is probably past its service life, but it more depends on how it has been used, highway or city miles.

More short trips under 200 miles more than anything else.

OE for me..
I changed my plugs in my 2008 Silverado on Monday.. had 70k miles on them... I was burning fuel like crazy.. Broke on plug wire and replaced it.. Huge difference in fuel economy and power.. also put a new air filter in ( Frame)

Sorry but I will ask. You found out they were ‘junk’ how? Collapsed and engine seized? Read it?
I’m not an engine guy, so I don’t know that they are junk. BUT have been told at the counter of an auto parts store that they have seen them cut in half and they were basically hollow. Also have read it on the WWW many times…. So it must be true. LOL
Just as much credence as the guy on the WWW that says he thinks they are the best thing since chocolate milk.

I tried the Wix on a SA 250 welding machine with the big Perkins diesel in it. It runs just over 60psi oil pressure. In cold weather it will split a Wix filter open. No problem with Fram.
