vartarg and acurate 2022

Several vartarg shooters rave about this powder,I used to use accurate 2015 in my 223 ackley until I worked up a load in the Spring and couldn't use any of in a July aft.because I started blowing primers,is 2022 in the same camp?and how does it meter?any in-put would be great

I am assuming you mean AA2200. It meters very well it's like accurates other ball powders. I run it in my 17 badger,20Vt. and 20SCC.

Your right,I did mean AA2200,is this powder sensitive to temp. changes?

I use AA2200 in both 20VarTarg & 20-221FireballAI with both 32 & 40 grain bullets. Have settled on 32's for these cartridges and performance seems pretty stable, but I have not had to shoot them in really hot conditions, but up into the 90's they still behaved well.

Thanks for the input smokin-joe,I got burnt using aa2015 yrs.ago so have been a little gun shy from then on concerning accurate powders,where I go p. dog hunting it rarely gets up to 90degrees as we usally go end of May into first two weeks of June.My favorite load for the Vartarg so far is 18.4 grs of H 4198 40 v-max wsr primer,this load delivers 3560 fps and touchs dogs way out there,usally shoots around half an inch.Partner and I wen't through 7000 rds this year cause Montana had such a mild Winter there was a lot of dogs.Was looking for a powder that merered a little better than H-4198,so will give aa 2022 a try.

AA 2200 does well with 32 grain bullets. It can be a little erratic accuracy wise with 39 and 40 grain bullets at the upper end of velocity. I would suggest staying with H 4198 for the 39 and 40 grain bullets. Buy a Harrell pistol powder measure and H 4198 will meter flawlessly. Just my 2 cents.

I use H4198 with 32 grain bullets and have excellent luck.
