Varmint/LR hunting stock recommendations?

Texas

Silver $$ Contributor
I am building a long range hunting rifle and am looking for stock recommendations. I want a laminated stock, fairly classic in style with a slightly wider forend for more stable shooting. Something like a Sendero or even 40X style stock would be fine. The stock needs to be able to accomodate a 28 inch long barrel thats about .800 muzzle.
Any advice or pics would be great. Thanks

Check stockys out. With that barrel youll need a long range hunter style and they have the aluminum bedding block

I just mounted up one of Stocky's new LRC with the alum bedding block and torqued to spec. Worked extremely well and can't wait to finish bedding and painting it - hard to beat for the price (however, not laminated or wide at the front)

If you could get a Marksman design in wood that would be the way to go! I will only be building my heavy varmint rifles on the McMillan Marksman stock! They are perfect

Here is an A5 style made by Joel Russo. I like the look and style but just not nearly as well as the Marksman.

I know you want laminate, but I have had lots of success with the old Rem 40X rimfire stocks, pillar bedded and skim bedded, properly sealed, in MOST weather conditions in Upstate NY. You can get one for $60 delivered from Numrich, refinish it and bed it. You may be really happy with it. It mimics the Rangemaster stock. They will take a centerfire action

I also, just purchased one of Stocky's new LRC stocks. The company advised that even with the hvy. barrel insert removed I should go no higher then .875 at the muzzle. The stock appears to be well made and solid. We shall see when I get my new barreled action in about 7 weeks.

I just checked my barrel which is .875 at the muzzle and with the insert removed there is 0.0850" clearance on the sides and more underneath. The point where I measure the gaps between barrel and stock, the barrel was just over an inch wide.

Man, that's what they told me! I changed my barrel choice because of their info.
