Varmint Grenades

Has anyone used the 6mm, 62 gr varmint grenades in the 243 AI? How was the accuracy on them? Was thinking of trying them.

I did but the 1 in 8 barrel just blow them up, will try them in 6br some time

I have not used them in 6mm, but I have used them in 204 Ruger and 22-250. Thet shot very well for me. I was using them for woodchucks so 3/8 to 1/2 inch groups were fine. I have heard other people have trouble getting them to shoot well. For the cost and performance, I went back to v-max bullets. They are cheaper and shoot just as good.

They wouldn't stabilize in my 243AI with a 1:14 twist. They shot real good in a 243, 3/8" to 1/2"; however, I decided the low BC was not what I wanted and went with 65 V-MAX's.

Tested the 243 AI with 9 different loads using the 62 gr VGs. The best group was .52" with 44.0 gr of H-380. The second best group was .62" with 50.0 gr of RL-19.
All other groups were over 1" with the largest 2.99"
None of the loads keyholed at all out of the factory barrel.

I also tested Barnes 80 gr TTSX and used 7 different loads. 36.5 gr of Varget was the best group at .64". All others were over 1"
I haven't chronographed them yet but will get to it as soon as I can.
I'm going to test 11 loads with Hornady's 75 gr Vmax next week if I don't have to work. Much rather shoot
