New Build

Hello to all. New here as this is my first posting. I am in the thought process of building a gopher getter\high speed paper punch and am thinking of going with the 6mm Rem AI. I've been looking around on different forums but haven't found a lot about this caliber. Anybody have any thoughts pro or con? It will be used mostly on GH out to around 600 yrds. I am thinking of staying in the lighter range of pills 55-80. I particuarly like the 62 grenades. Just love that splat factor. The banger will most likely be built on a 700 with a Douglas tube. Waht twist, 14? Length, would like to go 28?

The 6MM AI is at its best with a 8 twist barrel shooting heavy bullets as you have the case capacity to push them fast. If you are wanting a 600 yard Varmint rifle consider either a standard .243 or .243 AI with a 10 twist throated for 75-87 grain class bullets. You also have the benefit of Lapua brass now with a .243. I have 2 6MM AI's and love them both, but for mostly varmint hunting and occasional paper punching the .243 may be hard to overlook. Also welcome to the site. Great bunch of people here!
