Varmint Bench Kits

Well 4 of those lil pipe brackets are high on my list. I need a good portable shooting table.

My bench is three legs. I'm honestly not sure how 4 would work unless you straddle the leg between your legs when you sit.

4 might be more stable.

So I should just sell them individually? I was going to sell sets of 3.

I drill a 1/4” hole in the pipe and use a spanner to tighten (and sometimes more importantly un-tighten).

When my partner got a bed cover for his pickup I could no longer leave it assembled to go hunting. I have to pull it out every time and screw in the legs.

Since the thread is tapered, if the threads are greased simple hand tightening makes them dead solid. I get lots of practice taking it apart and putting it back together.

Greasing or heavy oil on the threads is the trick. Without it, it will bond in place and require a wrench.

Looks good with 3 legs.. Nicely spaced out and should be very stable. Spanner is good idea or maybe a thru hole in pipe and long screw driver or steel rod to tighten..

I don’t disagree that oil or grease would help, my concern would be getting it on something I wouldn’t want it to.
There’s probably an easy way to do that I can’t think of.

The fourth leg almost never helps. Three points defines a plane.

If someone wants it even more stable, connecting the three legs about half way down in a Y with a turnbuckle on the long run works great.

I made my 3 legs adjustable by welding a T slot nut to the outer pipe. Really helps in uneven terrain. I also welded a cap on the inner pipe so it wouldn’t fill up with dirt.

My legs are 32" end to end. Then you add the end cap. This bench has been used by lots of folks, including 6'6" basketball players, and kids on the other end.

I would say 32" is the number for a double ply top.

with a cut of 22.5 degrees on the brackets..
A 32" leg will yield a vertical of 29.56"
Leg will be offset 12.25"
I think this is correct..

Thread tape or compound; might be able to squeeze out more than one use per application, too. Same with anti-seize products, but they’re also hard to remove without a petroleum solvent.

I used a bit of atf and it is still there several months later.
