varment bullet A-Max?

Has anyone used the hornady 105A-Max for varmints? I'm shooting a 26" kreger 8 twist, stole panda.Any varmint load or bullet suggestions appreciated.Will the 107 seirra work for varmints or will they just bullet hole?

I will be finding out this May on sage rats. I do use the 75 grain AMax to great effect out of a 223AI. Definitely not a thru-hole bullet at 2950 FPS. I expect the same basic performance from the 105s.

We shoot the 105's out of our 243's....About as good of a bullet you will find for varmints

The 105 A-max is a better varmint bullet than the 107 Sierra MK seems to be, but either one will sure get a varmint pretty dead.
Hundreds of groundhogs have been piled up with the Amax bullets.......

Great bullet for ground squirrels. I use 75 gr V-Max and 105 gr A-Max in my 6mm BR. The 105's seem to buck the wind better. they are very effective for long range varminting.

Im gettin pretty hiped up about trying them in my new Krieger, I decided to get a 1:8t mostly just to shoot the 105 Amax in my 6br and reach out a bit further in the patch. the 87`s didnt seem to do that good for me past 400yrds if there was any wind but are great for calm weather. I plan on useing just the two for all my varmint shootin from 200yrds up. Me gun should be ready this weekend so I`ll have plenty of time for load development before gametime

Please let me know how it works out for you.I was not unable to get the 87g V-Max to reach the lands.I have decided to also try the 105g A-Max.Working with loads at this time.Have found varget powder to work fine at 29g with the bullet just touching lands.Bullet is a 107 sierra works great but not certain about the kill affect? Any more information on A-Max or any other varmint bullet would be greatly appreciated.Let me know what kind of load you come up with.I will be shooting out to about 500ytd. Thanks Pat Calif.

Will do, I got the 300 I ordered today but no word from my `smith yet... From what I learned so for it seems the 105Amax likes to jump about .020`s so I will start there and find a near max load of varget & RL15 to tweek around a bit till I find a good load.

You gotta have some freebore to not get the 87`s to your lands, is that a worn bbl or just the throat you got??? The reamer I use gets the 87`s at oal 2.315@ the lands and I think thats a bit long...just curious. What do you plan on shootin ?
