Varget data missing?

Texas Solo

B.S. High Master
Starting a new load with 185 Berger Juggs. Wanting to use Varget.
Hodgdon online data won't list any Hodgdon powder for 185gr 308?
What's up with that?
Anyway, anyone got a starting point for me?

Why don’t you call Berger and ask for the data. I have done this before on powders not listed and they were very helpful. Going to call next week for some 6XC data with powders not listed.
Hodgon misses a lot of powders the way I look at it.
Check PM’s also.

I find this rather curious, myself. My guess is that they may not want to provide loads for 185s, which are long enough that they may create pressure issues when loaded to mag length. But I really have no idea why they wouldn't provide a starting point with Varget.

In terms of providing a starting point, can you tell us more about your specific setup? For example, the barrel length, and whether you will be loading to mag length or loading longer for single feeding, etc. It can make a big difference.

casue it aint likely to be used in a bolt gun at 2.8 oal.
where it is used is outside the norm,,so no public data
ask any lawyer!

Well I contacted Berger. They sent me the 185 Jugg loads.
VARGET, 37.5 - 41.6. Also gave me specs for IMR4064 + IMR4895.
LOADED the juggs at - .015", with 39.5 + 39.8 Varget. Best 5 shot group was .833". That sucks!
Here's the weird thing: it's a new barrel. So I did the break in thing for 20 rounds with the 168's I had loaded for the old factory barrel. 3 shots to get scope on, then 17 rounds under 1". Those were a middle load of RL15. They had to jumping about .090".
Got home and measured a 168, which I thought would be way short of reaching the lands. But given the Tangent ogive. I reached the lands OK. At - .020, I still have sufficient bullet in the case neck.
Huge difference in the Tangent vs Secant olives.
I'm going to load some 168's with Varget, 4064 & 4895 at - 020".
I still don't think they will be ideal at 1000yds, but for 600 they might just kick ass.
