Vais Vs Gentry Quiet.....what would YOU do?

I have a Kimber Montana in 270 that I'm going to put a brake on.

I'd like an opinion on these two brakes if you've used them or have experience with them, the Vais or Gentry quiet.

Noise, recoil reduction, accuracy before and after installation....general opinions on which one you liked better.

Thanks!

Either will work fine. Quiet is maybe not a really accurate term. Neither are quiet. The quiet has the ports angled forward which does direct more from the shooter but they are far from quiet. Both are effective. I would look at which one looks better on your rifle. That's the real choice.

Vais has a great reputation and has always worked well for me. The Vais brakes have not altered accuracy and have been effective in reducing recoil and muzzle jump. I've used them on prairie dog guns, and hunting rifles for many years.

I would forgo either and buy one from nathan wright who is on this site. They are superb in every way, and less expensive. Have installed many, and all my people have loved em !

I had a muzzle brake installed a montana in 243 that has ports on the side and one on the top. Nothing on the bottom. Keeps the jump down to see hit or misses. All of my rifles have MB's & I shoot w/ pro ears.
This brake was a custom made by my gunsmith.

Yeah id skip on em both and get one from nathen or ross... thats ill i use and i have a bunch of em! They work great and are way way cheaper

I just put a brake on I got from Nathan. Their brakes are as good as anybody and for 45$ are a steal. I ordered on Wednesday and had it Friday. NLW358@aol.com

I really like my Vais brakes. It does a great job of reducing recoil and muzzle jump. My 6.5-47 Lapua (black stock) with a 23" Bartlein barrel kicks like my .223 or maybe less! I havent had a chance to shoot my .308 Winchester (tan stock) yet to see how much the Vais brake helps. I think they are the best looking brakes on the market too. Im not a fan of the big tactical looking brakes. If I was building a BIG gun like a .338 Lapua Mag then I would buy one of Ryan Peirce's 4 port Muscle brakes. Other than that I will stick to Vais brakes because they are 100% proven and they look great.
