V4 FX 120i Thinking of Pulling The trigger

OK I am ready to try and eliminate powder charge as a variable--Is this The set up? Do I need a line conditioner?
Is this the best route available?

If you are going to plug it in I would definitely get a line conditioner, Tripp-Lite is a good company to look into.

Hard to imagine anyone not being very happy with the V4/FX-120i combination. It works a treat.

I'm not in the camp that thinks a line conditioner is necessary. A good quality line conditioner won't hurt anything, but the V4/FX-120i is powered with a wall wart that rectifies the incoming AC to 12v DC... the current the V4/FX-120i actually sees.

Cheap wall warts can cause their own EMI/RFI issues, but that's not something a line conditioner will fix. If you do decide to add a line conditioner, I agree with Rick that Tripp-Lite would be a good place to look.

I don't how I got along without one of the V4's. It is the best thing since sliced bread as far as I am concerned. I do not use a line conditioner and don't see a need to. I've checked the accuracy over and over and never had a deviation. You will have to get used to the fact that sometimes it can be .02 light, but that is usually when using stick powders. Varget weighs .02 per kernel and that is the point of the scales guaranteed accuracy. Hard to find fault with that.

I was experiencing a little drift or irregularities when I first set mine up. After consulting with my friend that was involved in electronics his whole career, I installed a direct ground wire to the scale and purchased a Tripp-Lite line conditioner from Amazon. After making those changes I am completely satisfied with my V4 and FX120i setup and all the issues have disappeared.

Definitely the fx120/v4 is the top choice, but I’d have a real hard time spending the money to upgrade my TRX-925/Little Dandy/Hornady Powder Measure. Sure, I work harder, but I’m only into my kit for $550. IME, accuracy and drift are the same. Speed is probably close enough.

1) pick up pan
2) throw charge
3) place on scale
4) wait
5) course trickle
6) wait
7) fine trickle
8) remove & dump
9) return to scale
10) move funnel
11) repeat

The steps are the difference….waits are a couple seconds.

I use a OneAc line conditioner and a ferrite bead filter on my fx120i/ V4 setup . I experience 0 drift.

I went with just the scale. I couldn't justify the cost of the whole kit for as little shooting as I do now. I certainly wish I had "justified" the scale purchase sooner. I use my battery-powered Hornady trickle with it and I am quite happy with the setup.

Just got mine a couple days ago. I have had the scale for 5/6 years and found v4 nib on here. Had been using lee powder throw and little dandy trickler which worked great but not even in the same league with the v4 set up in my opinion anyway. You only get to go around once so pull that Trigger…… Oh yeah I have Tripp lite wall wart its plugged into dont know if it makes a difference are not but had it on hand so…..

I’m in line for a super trickler currently. Either one looks awesome. I bought the scale separate from CE products to save some money. Picked up the trickler portion from a V3 to hold me over and it’s been awesome.

I throw a charge close to the target weight, put it on the scale and it finishes trickling before I seat my bullet

I have the V4 with the scale and am very happy with it. I connect it to 12V dc car battery and
not worry about line voltage issues.

I have a V1 setup with the scale plugged into an APC BR1500MS2, a UPS that I standardized on in my home. I have 3 of them and I need another one. I leave my scale on all the time.

You will love it. I rolled the dice on the V3 and really liked it once I got it setup. The V4 is absolutely awesome! A well thought out more pro upgrade IMO.

A line conditioner/surge protector may protect against nearby lightning strikes damaging your scale.

To those that use high resolution scales, have you noticed an improvement on target? I’d like to buy one, but admittedly don’t see a difference on target between rounds loaded using a Lyman Gen 6 dispenser and ones loaded using a beam scale. The beam scale is more precise than the Lyman, but not one tuned by Mr Parker.

Before the V4, I used the Frankford Arsenal intellidropper and confirmed every powder drop on a beam scale (RCBS then M5) and it was dead on every time. Once in a blooo moon it would be off, or over throw. The result on target were great for me and my rifle.

When I upgraded to the V4, my reloading speed got faster and the results on target seemed to have stayed the same, 1/2 to 5/8 moa at 100 yards, the ES/SD may have gotten better, but that is a "MAY".

I only shoot maybe 1200 rounds per year, so I did not get the V4 to reload thousands of rounds at once. I simply got it because first, I love tools and gadgets and second, to have work bench bragging rights.

Well only V-3 and FX120i
I have done the whole nine yards to my Man Cave in the Barn .
Line Conditioner , LED, GFI, Filters.

Was it all needed ? Don’t know , had troubles with scale . Read up on this Forum went for it .
I have no worries till some part breaks.
