May 13, 2006
The Varmint Hunters Association held their second IBS 600yard match for 2006. We were fortunate to have more new IBS shooters in the crowd. Most of these new shooters were Jamboree veterans and were familiar with our conditions. The weather was again mild most of the morning and turned windy,10-20 mph) in the afternoon. In the morning the wind was consistantly out of the east and northeast. These favorable conditions made it possible some quality groups. Brian Lee stepped up to the plate and delivered the smallest group on record for Heavy Gun. The new club record is 1.496",35). This beat the old record by almost .3". The previous record held by Richard Schatz stood for almost exactly a year. In the afternoon, the winds and mirage turned a little ugly. Consequently, most of the groups opened up and point totals started to drop. Although several shooters plowed through the conditions and turn in some good aggregates. John Griswold tied the Heavy Gun score agg record with a 193.
