June 18, 2005 — Fort Pierre, South Dakota
What a difference a month makes! Instead of wearing our parkas, we were slathering sunscreen and looking for shade. Temperatures were in the 90's with moderate to high humidity. Winds were generally out of the south with frequent shifts from the west. The conditions were manageable for most of the shooters.
Richard Schatz won the Light Gun group, Heavy Gun score and Heavy Gun group categories. Jeff Rheborg managed to foil Richard's clean sweep by taking Light Gun score. Richard won overall honors in the Heavy Gun class. Jeff was the overall winner in the Light Gun class.
Once again, the scores improved in the V.H.A. Stock class. Three shooters were able to score four targets with several others with only one DQ. Glen Sterling Jr. was our leader. John Griswold was second. Elmer Miller was third.
After the final relay a free picnic was held in the Clubhouse. The plans were to have it in the pavilion. Although everyone agreed the air conditioning was much better indoors. We feasted on pork loin sandwiches, beans and chips while the awards were presented. Thanks go out to the V.H.A. staff members who prepared the food and drinks. It was a great way to finish the day.
Considering the manageable conditions and the growing experience within our shooters, we expected several club records to fall. Below are the new records:
LG Group: David Lockman 2.559",49)
LG Group Agg: Richard Schatz 4.603",167)
LG Score Agg: Jeff Rheborg 187,4.798")
HG Score: Glen Sterling Jr. 50,3.328")
HG Score Agg: Richard Schatz 193,4.454")
V.H.A. Stock Group Agg: Glen Sterling Jr. 7.016",124)
V.H.A. Stock Score: Elmer Miller 49,5.056")
