V Blocks vs traditional pillar bedding

It is time to bed my rifle stock and I have allways done pillars and Devcon.

Not ruling out v blocks.

So, anny accuracy difference? Pros cons?

I have both pillar-bedded and v-block bedded my actions but have not done both to the same action... so it would be hard to quantify any differences on accuracy...which I suspect would not be measurable.

However. My v-blocks give more metal to metal contact, which I "feel" is a plus.

To me V-blocks can be both beneficial or detrimental. Normally the V-blocks are machined very consistently. Its the actions that vary in dimension (my experience). I wouldn't use a V-block unless I could skim bed it. If you have a run-of-the-mill factory action, by all means Devcon bed. I don't see the need for pillars in a quality laminate stock. If they make YOU more confident, why not? I can honestly say I've seen grouping improve by skim bedding a V-block (stress free). Just my .02

Thanks guys. It is a Savage PTA. I will go ahead with the DevCon. Allready got the pillars made and waiting on the big brown truck to bring me some more Devcon...

I installed my adjustable cheekpiece hardware in my stock today while waiting.
Cant wait to shoot this stock.

V-Block is good when you have one stock and more barreled actions because changing is much easier and every action will be perfect centered in the V-block.
If not, pillar epoxy do the same job and is much easier and faster.
