UTV/ATV Rifle Rack

Kolpin

I'm doing some research on rifle racks for UTV's & ATV's.

There's so many on the market, I was wondering which one will hold two rifles securely.

Some are a ratcheting type of grip where others have a rubber strap to hold the rifle in place. It would seem the rubber strap could break when you're in the field fairly easily.

I know nothing about either style and looking for some first hand knowledge.

Thanks all.

I gave up on them, they’re either in the way or not very solid
I bought a double gun case that straps to the roll bar of my side by side from cabelas

I've used Big Sky racks in two pickups spanning 25 years and was happy with them.

I used the Kolpin gun boot mainly on a Polaris Magnum 500.
I also had the Kolpin posts for the front rack but they were
more of a pain in the ass, and your rifle was open to splashing
and trail debris. Buddy of mine hard mounted a case to the
rear rack of his Sportsman 800. No going thru the tight stuff
with that setup. Just too much overhang to accidentally clip a
tree.

I have a Seizmek OGR that I like and is very secure and also a Polaris/Kolpin Pro Fit 2 gun rack that I don't use much. Both work for me but I never really came up with a good way to lock the bed mounted rack that came with my Hunter edition Ranger so I just don't use it hardly at all.

I have a Kawasaki Mule and afraid their gun boot might be a mistake to buy also.

Kolpin Stronghold is what I've settled on after having several others. I use it on my quad and SxS. The mount fits most machines and for Polaris, they offer the lock n ride lockdowns for the quad racks and bed rails on the SxS Rangers.

If the goal is to carry two rifles securely, look for a purpose-built UTV vertical gun rack that clamps both stocks and barrels. Ratcheting grips are great for high-vibration, rough trails — they cinch tight and rarely let the rifle bounce. Make sure the rack has good padding where the rifle contacts metal to avoid scratching finishes.

While living and hunting in Wyoming, we used our ATVs all the time. We went through several ways to carry our rifles. All options were always in the way! Finally, we stumbled on a "Safari Sling" in a Cabela's catalog. It can be used in 2 ways. Like a regular sling or with the sling around the neck/shoulder, with the rifle resting slightly on your lap. We could jump off the ATV and have the rifles shouldered in seconds. They worked great. We never found anything better. I don't believe Cabela's carries the sling any longer, but they are still available on the Internet. Looks like Amazon carries it under the name of "Bonnie Packer Rifle Sling".

Kolpin posts on the back of the Suzuki 4 wheeler. Basket on the front if I use the gun case. Have a cheap nylon holster on the side of the basket for a pistol, fast access.

Ive got the koplin case mounted on a ranger 900. It has the rubber strap and gun case liner. Used it now for 8 years and no issues. I shoot trap and have carried my k80's in it at shoots and it's kept them safe and dry.
