USSG Double rifles Any Good??

They are made in the Russian Baikal factory. I see they are available around $650. in 30-06 and I think 45-70. Has anyone had one in hand and an opportunity to check it out at the range?

I always thought a double in 30-06 would be fun but the price was way out of my budget. Like to hear what folks have experienced with them. Im curious how the "regulating" works.

Interesting question Tom. They have always caught my fancy too but way out of my price range. Hmm, this brand is worth looking at..

The bluing in the pic is a little pale for what ever thats worth, the wood is simple but the price is tempting. I know when these were first advertised they had not become available and I understand they had some issues in manufacturing holding up production but apparently since have been resolved. I'd be looking for POI within 1" (both barrels in the same circle maybe 1.5"). The fit of the action and wood looks very good and the checkering nice and clean no overruns. trigger guard has a very attractive shape and the break action lever nice profile and checkering. Minimal engraving. is attractive. So how does it shoot???

Might be a fun wild hog gun.

There is a reference Im not familiar with DAC 1.75" and DAH 2" does someone know what that relates to? Also it weighs in at a hefty 12lb. I guess my wife could be my gun bearer.

DAC = Drop at Comb
DAH = Drop at Heel

It's the amount of downward slant to the butt stock from the boreline.

got it thanks. Usually reserved for shotguns? Is it a common reference in rifles? I don't recall ever seeing it referenced except with a shotgun?

I've thought about one in 45-70 a LOT! But wouldn't take the plunge while prices were inflated. I'm pobably on board now that they're importing again.

FYI, I read an article a while back where some fellow was unhappy with the triggers, and swapped them out with a single selective from a shotgun. He said it was much easier to work with.

Tom, those figures are common in European or custom guns. When you get "fitted" to a rifle, like getting fitted to a new suit by a tailor, all these figures of drop, length of pull, offset in the stock, etc., all become important. Buying factory rifles we get whatever they deemed the "average" to be.

I shot some trap and got to know what was important in the shotgun geometry but never gave much thought to it applying to a rifle. Sure it would, why not! Thanks for sharing that bit of info.
