USPS Crazy Happy Ending!

When shipping bullets, just remember they are heavy for their size. Most Postal boxes are pretty good quality boxes, but then they are designed for more normal weight items. Bullets are like shipping a solid block of lead. Lots of strapping tape is the best insurance. When I get bullets, it always surprises me how heavy they are.

I’m guessing those bullets are Remington Core-Lokt 200 gr SPRN .35 caliber. How close am I?

Yes, indeed, Tyvec bags inside Flat Rate bags with proper cushioning as well. Rigid styrofoam works great and easy to cut to fit.
GotRDid.

I honestly don’t know what they are for sure. Bought a bunch of them For a couple 35 remingtons. I do know they shoot good. Maybe Josh knows for sure.

Josh is trying to be nice and not mention my name, I was the seller. I typically use scotch 2inch strapping tape, I buy it in bulk on EBay where you can find at a reasonable price and the stuff is indestructible. I even get complaints I use too much. In this case the Post Office quoted me 70.00+ dollars to ship bullets I sold for 160ish. The Post Office lady suggested I use a flat rate box, they were in a PO box that was smaller but not flat rate. So I transferred them over to a large flat rate box on my tailgate and packed that box with as much stuffing as I could so the bullets wouldn’t move.

Josh receives the pictured box With a couple bullets still in it. He was nice about it when he sent me the picture, I refunded him his money ASAP because it wasn’t any fault of his and thats the way I am anyways. Me and a josh have had multiple transactions and his friendship is more important than bullets or $$. The first thing I thought is I should have just taken them home and used strapping tape like Alf suggested, thats what I usually do anyways as many of you know. Lesson = don’t get impatient, take it home and do it right.

Either the PO made a note of the intended address when they had a mess on the floor and then resent it or someone’s guilty conscience got the best of them. I tend to think it was the first option, it just took them a week to get it done. Either way karma smiled on both Josh and myself and the bullets eventually arrived.

Now it’s time for my weekly motorcycle ride with the wife. We usually go grab a burger a couple hours away up high in the White a mountains of Arizona, Almost as therapeutic as reloading

edited; added pics of the short ride. 8-9500 feet, very dry, drought conditions but still scenic. Monsoons are due anytime, clouds have been gathering in the afternoons. We’ve had a few teaser sprinkles but thats it so far,
The FJR is a fine bike.
I have a set of passenger peg lowering brackets I'm not using if you're interested.

I bet you’re right. They are 200 grain. In these times of “plenty”, I didn’t check their pedigree!

I sold about 15 groups of bullets this past year. Most shipped in the above mention flat rate boxes but a couple shipped in larger boxes UPS. Like mentioned above tight packing, I mean really tight, and liberal use of filiment tape resulted in not one issue. The problem was finding the tape, ended up buying online as no one local said they could get it any longer.

Cool! Ride as long as you can. My last bike was a Suzuki 1100. It was a rocket!I sold it after my third “close call” with an idiot that didn’t see me coming.
I don’t bounce, anymore. I break!
I’ve been lucky, no accidents with many miles under my belt. My Dad is one of the guys who made Ironbutt work, he taught us defensive driving, he was pretty militant about it as I have been with my own kids. Nothing you can do about Idiots but try and be defensive. People on cell phones has become the number one threat, use to be alcohol but cell phones have taken over that category.

The USPS wasn't so cooperative when I sold bullets and the same thing happened other than some prescription drugs were stuffed into the box. I raised a fuss and told them it was flat out illegal to repackage prescription drugs and they needed to investigate their contractors. All I received were form letters. I appealed and all I received was form letters.

Sir, we are honest people in Texas!.....usually, sometimes, most of the time.
But then we have Robert Francis O'Rourke and She Jack

Yessir, we are.

Just saying that, in Texas, it would be much harder to ascertain the rightful owner of said bullets. I mean, we could rule out Beto and SJL, but not many more.

And besides, there is a shortage going on.

Had the same thing happen....guy shipped bullets in a flat rate box in the dead of summer...the weight cause the glue to fail...probably because it was hot.

Box came and felt....very light.

Note inside said the box was damaged in shipping blah blah blah. Goto your local post office to file a claim.

They wouldn't let me do anything about it...wanted the shipper to do it.

He sent my funds back and we both learned some lessons.

I always wrap good tape around boxes now.

I sell lots of brass on multiple forums. Everything is in plastic bags. Then that bag is placed into the tyvek bags the PO has. Then the same for each type of brass. Then it all is put into another of the tyvek bags before it is put into the boxes. I try to remember to write on the bag the persons address. Then the box is triple taped up on all the seams.

Have not lost anything yet. I have gotten a few pics from people that the boxes were tore up bad. But none of the brass was lost because of the bags

Not really related, but a rather large (and damned heavy) order of cast lead bullets was misaddressed (correct city, zip and street, but non-existent house number.) My carrier was good enough to bounce the name on the package to other mail, and deliver it to me anyway. Don't know about other places, but in Oakland, that is great customer service.
