USMC Skim bed?

G'day all,

I just read the "gun of the week" article on Terry Cross' .260AI tactical. In the article he states that he gave the rifle a "skim bed in the standard USMC pattern"....in the furtherance of my education can someone explain what the "USMC pattern" is all about?

I think they are referring a skim coat of bedding over the internal aluminum bedding block.
As far as USMC style or type I'm not quite sure.
Jim Hart Of Hart rifle barrels does this to the USMC and US Army rifles M24 etc. Also the special police models.
