using high or extra high scope rings

I am mounting a sightron 8-32x56 scope on a Remington 541 22 rifle. With high rings I have .0010 clearance between the bell and the barrel. Not enough to put lens cover on. What effect do the high rings have on the elevation adjustment ??

They should buy you an additional 0.1MOA or so. Think of it as a (very) slightly canted rail.

Shouldn't make any difference? Going higher just keeps your neck from getting kinked trying to get lower on the stock.

Here is my .22 when it had an 8-32x56 scope on it. (Now has a different scope but with the same rings.) You couldn't pay me to go back to shooting a low scope. I can shoot this scope all day in complete comfort, and having it high does not affect accuracy at all. The difference in elevation adjustment is prolly a click or two, if that.
