I was feeling creative and bored these past couple days so I started working on a new project I’ve had on the back burner.

Yeah they didn’t know it could be done either so they were pretty excited to see an alternative use for their machine.Cool. I wouldn’t even know how to start building something like that. How do you keep case from rotating while being trimmed?
Thank youJohn, you definitely think outside the box. Very cool.
I appreciate that. I still have my fair share of Goldbergs too...I love your innovation. I have great respect for those who can juggle all of those design balls and not come up w a Rube Goldberg type of gizzie.
Having worked w several engineers to make their ideas come to pass, my hat is off.

Thank you for the kind words. Yes I totally agree about rotating the case when using the machine as do a number of other people that I shoot with who use one. Obviously at this time it does not have any kind of rotation however that is definitely something I am trying to incorporate as I move forward. That piece is a little trickier of course. I have actually been playing with allowing it to naturally rotate a certain amount while being trimmed by adjusting the amount of down force that is applied. I have found that has actually been helping. I should have some new software to test out later today which may yield even better results and I will keep everybody posted.I love your cleverness and creativity, not to mention your mechanical skills, great idea!
The one thing I'm curious about is whether the trim/chamfer will be one-sided without any rotation of the case? My Giraud will not generate a uniform trim/chamfer all the way around the case mouth unless I spin the case with my fingers a couple times. I could probably improve the trim/chamfer by setting the cutter blade a little better than it currently is, but spinning the case seems to be a big part of getting a uniform result.
