Using .262 neck turned 6br brass in no turn barrel.

I just purchased a bunch of Lapua 6br brass from a forum member that was turned to .262, trimmed, sorted, etc. I bought this brass in anticipation of finishing the project soon. The last thing I need to get is a barrel. I was going to get a no turn barrel but this brass is just so nicely prepped and sorted I would like to use it. Would there be an issue with using in a .272 no turn neck barrel? I fear I would be needing to anneal after every firing because of excessive working of the case necks. I already have wilson dies too and just need to order the proper bushing. As for the rifle, it will be used exclusively for 600 yard f-open, savage target action. Or should I just buy new brass and get a no turn barrel? I am up for suggestions!
Thanks
Justin

Justin, If you want a no-turn chamber, I would sell the 100 pieces of twice fired, neck turned Lapua brass that you bought. Looking back at your post when you purchased, I think you should be able to recoup your purchase price. I would remove the primers from that brass which is primed so you can legally ship via the USPS in a Priority Mail small flat rate box.

I don't mind having a turn neck barrel. But I am not aware of the difficulties, if any exist, of converting a standard blank to a prefit/barrel nut savage barrel. I have tossed around the idea of just doing a shouldered barrel but I really like the idea of easily swapping barrels and am already tooled up to be able to do that.

A shouldered barrel will tighten up perfect without messing with a nut..
.010 is a lot of clearance, sell the brass you have now, or order a .262 neck on the new barrel.
The blank you order must be the same size as your action, or you'll be turning off a lot of metal, and thats not a real good idea...

Never shoot another person's brass in your barrel.

Buy new brass, a reamer of your own [$138 from PT&G], and then have a good gunsmith chamber up a new no-turn barrel.

Use your reamer for subsequent barrels.

That way you can use your existing brass in successive barrels because it was fire formed in an identical chamber.

Request a copy or two of the reamer's drawing for your records and future reference.

You'll be head and shoulders above the crowd if you do. :)

New barrel, New Brass. the used brass may not fit. I had a Factory Savage 223 barrel firing Lapua brass. I sold the barrel and was going to use the brass in my 223AI it will not fit in the AI chamber, too tight. It will fit in may 223 Contender barrel.
