Using 1K BR gun for F-Class -- Considerations?

Yes, if you shoot F-open. There are two flavors of F-class competition. F/TR (Tactical Rifle) restricts the shooter to only two military calibers - .223 and .308. You are allowed to shoot from a bipod only. F-open allows the use of any caliber (below a maximum diameter). In practice I haven't heard of any competitors using bullets larger than 30 caliber. F-open also allows you to shoot from a stationary rest (with three legs). F-open stocks often resemble benchrest stocks, so you would be good to go with your benchrest stock.

I do not shoot F-Class but as I understand it F-Class stocks con not exceed 3" in width and have a 22 lb weight limit. IBS benchrest has a 17 lb weight limit. So if your rifle has a 3" wide stock that weights 17 lbs or less you could shoot both .

Lots of folks are doing what you are inquiring about.
I know a few shooters who use their 22 pound F-Class rig in the heavy gun contest and shoot out of class in light gun. I remove the 3 way but stock on my F-Class rig and swap to a HV barrel to make weight when I want to shoot it in LG class. Most of the other equipment is exactly the same.
Hope this helps

The basic F Open rifle rules,
Max 35 cal
Stock max 3" wide
22lbs or less
Regular rear bag, no mechanical adjustable rear bag rests.
Have fun!

F - TR is limited in weight to 18lbs. - 4oz. ( approx ) and weight includes any item "affixed" to the rifle when competing , to include weight of Bi-pod . As previously stated , caliber restrictions are .223 & .308 . The TR Class also has requirements for front "Base-boards" / Mats / Carpets , to be used under the Bi-pod feet / Legs .
