used chronograph

I know nothing about chronographs. I'm not even sure I spelled it correctly.

I am thinking about buying a used one that records the data. What kind and how much should I pay ? I shoot at a small range where setup wouldn't be a problem.

Or should I wait until the price of the Magnetospeed [sp]goes down ?

thanks in advance for the input.

;D

I know a real rifle looney who has both. He is really impressed by the magneto unit. Ease of use, no worry about light conditions and seemingly right on for accuracy. I personally own a Beta Chrony and it is accurate, but not easy to use. If I didn't one already I would get a Magneto unit. As it is I seldom use the unit.

I agree.......if it's an Oehler, get it.

I have tried several others (including you know what) but still keep my 35 and 35P on hand.

Most people can't afford an Ohler 35 and also take a chance on shooting it. So for them the MagnetoSpeed is the next best option.

With the MagnetoSpeed you have to first find the load that you want and then measure the speed, while keeping in mind that when you strap it on the barrel it will change the POI.

Watch on this site for used Magnetospeeds. I bought a used V1, first edition at a reasonable price. Some guys are updating to the newest model & selling the V1's reasonable. It does all I need to do. Saves all shots on a SD chip .

I see Midway was selling for $265. but are discontinued . That should put the price reasonable. I will keep my eyes open for one.

thanks guys.

I, just ordered this one but wont get to try it until later next month. But for a hundred dollars I, am willing to give it a try. It has a good number of good reviews.
