USA F-Open in South Africa at the Worlds

Bill Kolodziej’s score and x count tied Rod Davies’ (prior world champ) at the podium/non breakpoint, so tough to see that Bill, but great job leading our group!
Agreed and Tod Hendricks did great also, coming in 6th, one point behind but with a higher V-count than the 3-5 places. And VD Westhuizen, CHS in 7th place had the highest V-count of all at 61. 10s do beat Vs, and Xs.

Looks like US could use some more two to mound shooting, hard to beat SA on their home turf. I am sure US would have more in Top 10 when champs are shot string firing.

Good results for all, well done USA.
Understood. However, that is the ICFRA format. When I shot in the Worlds in 2013 and again in 2017, it was all two to a mound with 45 seconds on the clock.

Teams competition is string firing.

We do the FPS V2-series in 2 or 3 to a mound after the regular string matches.

It's the middle of the night in SA right now and I hope everyone is sleeping. if I read the schedule correctly, tomorrow Thursday, will be team practice and Friday-Saturday will be team matches.

I am very proud of Team USA F-TR and F-Open. I know many of the members, some more than others and I have shot alongside several of them. They are all excellent shooters and represent the USA extremely well. They have gone a long way to get to where they are now, and they have done a great job so far as individual shooters against pretty great odds. There are very fine shooters all over the world.

But now it's team vs team vs team... I am rooting for you Team USA! You've already got all their names, now you only need to kick butt and shoot like you know how to shoot!

Go TEAM USA!

I've got a curiosity question..
Whats the under 25 comp rules about..?
It's a bit of an odd age.
I get the under 18 age rules for certain things but 25 doesn't make any sense..!
Is it a really old rule..?

ICFRA is 20 years old this year, however it is the successor of the Palma Council, which dates back to 1876.

There used to be a category for Under 21, and another for 21-25. I think they simply combined them.
They have also a Veteran (60+) category and a Super Veteran (70+) category. There is no women category, everyone is treated the same. Sometimes they recognize high woman. I thought saw some listing with 60 and 70 and some comments with (lady) but that might have been in the SABU results.

Well ain’t that a shame, no photos of team USA F Open and team GB F Open sharing a evening at the Longhorn steak house.

The difficulty there is that there are fewer of us who are interested in international shooting than there are who simply want to shoot a 3 strings into an E target and go home early. Even harder to get people to play when it’s hot and the sling and coat shooters are there. They get roasted Even the East Coast Fullbore match at Butner hasn’t done 2 to a mound in seven or eight yrs or so.

We (USA) did pretty well in the individuals FCWC in ‘17 (At least in F-TR we did).

Team practice day before the big match!!! We worked out a few rifle issues, and despite some fairly mild conditions, coaches got some great work in. We are ready to roll!!! On the way home, KW jumped out of the car and mingled with the locals a bit.F4B270A9-5B4E-4B46-8FF9-7A52D3C6CF69.jpeg2BA092E0-5A44-464C-85D8-0DC18C2297BB.jpeg

Fingers crossed for a competitive, safe day on the range for all. I know that coming score sheet will be a bare bones bottom line tally.

Any additional information anyone wanted to post would be happily absorbed, lead changes, who our shooters are, who theirs are, any particular standout performances, what’s shooting well out there, stuff like that.

Edit: thanks FCWC tabulators for the detailed results.
