USA 2000-Yard Nationals

Just wondering, are these 2000yd shoots run in the same format as 1000yd BR comps?
I would like to see 2000yd comps develop as a bridge between 1000yd BR and King of 2 Mile type comps. At least more people could modify their existing equipment to shoot 2000yds, while 2 mile shooting starts to get seriously expensive.

From what I understand...yes. Lg and HG class. Shoot for group and score. 3 target agg. for each class. Just like 1k nationals.

The best way to make something like this move forward is to go shoot the event. Bring a friend.

As Tod said yes as far as format goes. A bit more inclusive as far as you CAN use a bipod if you want, and you CAN shoot off the ground if you want. 3 target agg in each class, random draw for each relay, and relay rank scoring for the match winner(class winner). The actual agg is for records just like 600 ibs and gba and nbrsa Benchrest.

Sounds fun! I am close enough to attend, though not this year. I also would need a dedicated rifle. My 300 WSM 1K BR rifle would not be competitive. I need another 400 fps or another .25 in BC.

What groups sizes are competitors shooting for this?

I'm in the same situation, but a 338 Edge will screw into the same set up without too much cost.

I think the better groups are 15 to 20 inches.

Do you think something like a BAT M in an @Alex Wheeler LRB stock set up like an NBRSA heavy gun, chambered in .338 Edge, would be competitive? I am seeing a path where I have a 300 WSM HG and the very few times I might get to shoot ELR I can switch to the Edge barrel.

That is what I am bringing......Bat M with an old Shehane Tracker stock. Backup will be my hunting gun..... Rem 700 with an A-5 stock. Both 338 Edge.

That is...if i ever find out weather or not they are having the shoot!!!

Do you use your LRB stocks and Sinclair Comp rest for ELR?

No, but I would. My 338 is on a cerus elr stock, with a rear rudder added. I attach a 4 inch plate to the anshutz rail and shoot off my normal rear bag in back, and my seb max out front. I would use my Sinclair but I can't reach it lol, the stock is very long.

Thanks. I guess I'll start on my HG in 300 WSM. (I already have a LG 300 WSM.) I'll get a BAT M with a 3" ejection port and then I'll also be able the chamber a 338 Edge barrel.

The biggest issue with the Edge is it needs 60 MOA to get to 2000 yds. I guess a 40 MOA rail and a NF BR should work......

Please correct me if I'm not clear on the following:

Shooting one relay, one gun = 15 shots in two days. 5 shots each target, 3 targets total.

$100/relay + $70.00 membership.

Unless I miss my guess, this is essentially aimed at local or nearby local shooters who can travel a few hours.
