UPS WTH?

Got a box from Boyds that was supposed to have a stock in it for an airgun build. I had a sinking feeling as I peeled off a bunch of packing tape off a damaged box end. I opened the box and this is what was inside:




I don't have a clue what the flock this is. Anybody know what it is?

You can bet your butt that I will be having a discussion with both Boyds and UPS. Unfortunately, it's late afternoon on a Saturday. So, first thing Monday.

Does it weigh the same as the stock? I bet someone has a nice new stock.

Just had my first UPS package go missing in something like two years. The customer said Reddit is lit up talking about this town in CO where it went missing.

Before you bash UPS, 'splain to me how a stock shaped object just happened to be lyin' 'round the UPS hub and they figured they'd send it on out to the OP in the original box with the original shipping label?
Barring other details, this is on Boyds.

With the hole spacing it could be some sort of drill fixture.

If you received the parcel properly packaged and wrapped then I would think that this is on Boyd's. I would contact them first. JMO

More info, as I stated in the OP, both ends of the box were taped with clear packing tape. It looked like a 3 year old did the taping. Box was damaged on one end. Boyds does not tape their boxes. The stocks are stapled into self locking boxes. The mystery object weighs right at 2#. About a pound short of the stock I ordered.

If I remember right my last Boyds stock came in 2 boxes. The box you showed then in a basic box with no advertising on it.
