UPS lost my new gun!!!

Ups called me today to explain to me that they had no idea where my new Volquartsen was. It was being shipped from Birmingham to Atlanta, about 180 miles. I ordered the gun on 06 Feb 06 it shipped on 07 Feb 06. They do not have a clue as to where the gun is.

This gun was purchased for a PD hunt this April. I made, I bet 50 calls trying to find a VQ in a Hummer without a compensated barrel.

Now I am back to square one, trying to locate a new gun.

Nothing is easy, how something this simple can get so screwed up is beyond me.

As you guys are cruising your local gun shops, if they stock Volquartsen, I am looking for A Volquartsen in a .17hmr without any holes drilled in the muzzle.

Thanks,
Chuck

P,
No compensation from UPS. The dealer I bought the gun from had it insured for a $1000.00 so no one is out any bucks.

Still it has been a huge pain in the butt.

Chuck

would you be in trouble if the dealer sent you a new one, from the $1K inswerernce and then you original turned up weeks on months later??

Could you keep both??

P,
The dealer is a good guy, he does not have another one like I want. It's not the dealers fault, UPS just dropped the ball.

What is a "Greenie"

Chuck

Chuck,

I understand UPS has a habit of losing guns. You can substitute the word steal for lose anytime you want.
I send guns good old U.S. mail. Might cost a bit more, but I've never had one "Lost/Stolen".

a greenie is a PETA fruitcake over this side of the pond.

Has no idea of real conservation and never leaves the city to know whats really happening outside the concrete jungle.

The only use for them is to Bull"doze" them into the soil for fertilizer.

Hope your rifle turns up. All our transfers besides in person pick ups have to go dealer to dealer,FFLto FFL)before we even see them

Is the ATF notified of the lose? I live in B'ham and have had HUGE troubles with UPS. While I have yet to lose a gun, I know others that have. I'll bet the trouble is in B'ham.

I, too, second the USPS notion. Try to avoid UPS whenever possible.

While I'm no real fan of the USPS or UPS...they ARE about the only way a LOT of business gets done in this country...the world for that matter. We get a lot of business that comes and goes on the "Brown Truck"

I have heard that the Atlanta UPS hub was very prone to "losing" things...firearms in particular. Heard this about 2 years ago and I guess it's still happening.

You can also be guaranteed of the fact that UPS doesn't like to pay freight claims at all, they will...but they don't want any at all. It cuts into profits too much, and 1000 dollar loss claims get the attention of those that have to pay them in a big hurry, and if the problem IS at their end, they do their best to find it and deal with it very quickly.

No one EVER wants to lose anything that's been shipped, but it does happen from time to time. Thank the Good Lord for insurance. Anyone that ships anything of value without insurance is just asking to lose money. It creates an additional pain or scramble to replace lost items, but at least no one, dealer or customer is out any hard cash. It's all on the carrier once they accept the package.

But, you can also thank those that "lose" our goods for the additional costs...passed on to the other customers...like us.

Palma and P,
In the US it's FFL to FFL also.
The package made it to Atlanta in one day. The went to Stone Mountain a city 20 miles East of Atlanta., my gun shop is in Atlanta). Then it just vanished into thin air. Thank God it was not a custom rig.

What would Jack Bauer do?

You might suggest to your dealer that he contact his local police and report the loss. They will put serial number on their stolen firearms registry. I had two rifles and scopes stolen from my pick up truck about 12 yrs. ago I reported the theft to local police, and one gun turned up in the hands of a bad guy two years later. Long story, but the judge left him go!! The rifle was returned to me.

TenRing, The cops in Atlanta do not respond to anything in Atlanta unless there blood on the ground...Too many shootings everyday..
