Universal decapping die

Killing Time

I am wanting to get a universal decapping die and found the Mighty Armory brand online. Does anyone use this? I like the sound of it because it uses a small pin that will work well with my Lapua small flash holes. But I’m interested in what y’all think.

Thanks!

I've used the RCBS decapping die and it worked well.
I currently use a mighty armory decapping die and just broke my first pin about a month ago. I probably decapped 3000+ 6 and 30BR primers before it broke and it didn't even break. I didn't have the shell holder in all the way and I sent one up and it bent the pin. (Opps!) You can get a 3 pack of spare pins for like $10.99. great decapping die.

I have a Lyman and used it for years and the only reason I broke the decapping rod is for some reason I put it in a position on my Dillon 550 where it couldn't work.

I have used a RCBS for years and only bent a few pins .
Was recommended the Mighty Armory version of the short one when I started loading for the 17 Hornet since the standard size decappers are too large .
They are built like a Mack truck .
It does look like it is made well. And it will definitely handle all of the cartridges I have at the moment.

I recently started using the Mighty Armory XMS self centering decapping die in 1050 auto mode ...works great. I've done about about 4000 cases without incident.

I was bending about 2-3 pins per 1000 using a non-centering Redding universal decapping die previously.

Only draw back is the OEM main shaft on the XMS is too big for 20 caliber cases. I made a replacement out of a grade-8 bolt for the 20's. I've done about 1300 204s with it to date....no failures....5000 to go.

Usual reason to break or bend a pin is the operator screwed up, sm hole/lg pin, berdan primer, case out of place, and happily slamming away at them on autopilot. As i've heard it, FW and Mighty Armory are supposed to be the two "best", I have a Lee and and RCBS, they do what I need done, also have a selection of pins I've acquired over time, in case I screw one up on them or my dies.

Whatever you do, DO NOT get the LEE. I bought one a few weeks ago, decapped 100 rounds of 6 BRA and it already bent the pin. Which is whatever I guess. Get what you pay for in life. But the really crappy part is that when I emailed LEE, I could not believe their response. They told me it's very common for them to break and they'd sell me new pins, or the alternative would be to DRILL out my Lapua cases to accept a larger pin! I said wow, no warranty on something less than a month old that decapped 100 cases? NOPE. And you recomend I drill out my Lapua cases? Unbelievable. I'll NEVER buy anything LEE or recomend them to anyone for anything. How about you just make a better product and or stand behind it...

I have two RCBS decappers, one Universal and one Heavy Duty. Don't really see much difference between them. I recently purchased the Lee decapper with the small pin. Seems to work well enough.

What does a $70 decapper do that the $30 RCBS doesn't do?
