unertl 24X with posa mounts

I have a Unertl 24X with Posa mounts. I got it bore sighted and on paper. I did not have the time to complete the job. So when I left, my last shot was low and to the right of the bulls-eye. Today, when I shot the first 22LR round, it was high and to the left. What is going on? The scope blocks I checked are tight, no movement. The scope is spot on now. Will I have the same problem when I mount the scope next session? Please advise.

shooting 100 yrds. Groups very well. Removing every time I shoot. No room in safe.

To be expected with removal, amongst daily and hourly conditions. Adjust

RF first shot placement is never going to be at actual POI , especially out of a clean bore.
Usually takes a few sighters.

I would double check the scope returning to battery. See that it returns to its most forward position/stop when the rifle is fired. Test Different recoil spring tensions to see if it has an effect.

I have one of those scopes that I use on several different rifles, I write the settings down for each rifle and when I use the scope again I set the adjustment to the settings I wrote down and am on target. Usually a few clicks are all the adjustment needed, even when I am shooting 300 yards. Make sure you have pulled the scope back to the stop and set up the recoil spring, if not using the spring you have to pull the scope back for each shot. These externally adjustable scopes can be incredibly accurate and are ment to be able to be removed from the rifle then reattached with no issues.

For use with a rimfire, compress the return spring 1/2 of it's free length, per Unertl. Not enough recoil (as there is with a CF) to activate the spring properly when left full length. Also, make sure to tighten the mounts to the scope blocks (hopefully they are matching posa blocks) in the same manner each time -- holding them forward or rearward to take up the slight amount of slack. I always slide the scope forward and back a time or two in the mounts after installation. Finally, unbedded .22's can move around in the stock when taken off the line, handled, stored, etc. Often zero is off until rifle is shot several times and the action resettles in the stock, sometimes never in the same place.

If I ever have a scope fully on target after sitting around a few days, it will be the first time.
I have used Unertl, Fecker and Redfield 3200 classic long tube scopes on many rifles. I had to sight in every time I went to the range. But then I expect to do the same with any scope.
