Does anyone have a value for this optic. How easy would it be to sell?

Its worth what someone is willing to pay...lately that seems to be in the $500 to $750 range. Since they are way no longer made that is likely to go up if we ever get a real president and the economy picks up. The problem with those scopes, and many people that think they have to have one don't know, is that the lens cells get cloudy. Especially the objective. It will look like a weird stain on the lens that you cant clean off because it is inside. You have to sort of look across the lens in daylight to see it. One that has it can still hold zero, but it kind of kills the value to anyone familiar with the problem. I have heard all sorts of reasons for this issue, but don't know for sure why the lenses do it. There is currently no one I am aware of that will fix this problem and not too many around that can fix much of anything on these scopes. Good luck.

I sold mine (2" Ultra Varmint) a number of years ago for $7xx. Don't remember the exact amount.

15X old style 1.5" objective ( Ultra Varmint was the newer 2" objective) Realistic price. $450- $550. Mostly used for Four Position 22RF Matches years back. I shoot Schuetzen Matches...offhand 200 yds we normally use a 8-10x. A 20X for Benchrest. the 15X is that to much power for offhand or to little for BR though I used mine for a couple years . Mine was mint condition both scope caps, sold for $500.00 shipped last year. Just a fair price and feeling good about it. EBAY...there a bunch of Garage Sale Idiots on some of there prices.

I own bunch of these scopes, and have had them for 40+ years, and they are clean and clear. It is extremely rare for a lens to get cloudy. About the same percentage as standard scopes that get cloudy.

There are several companies that specialize if repair of Unertls and Lyman TargetSpots.

I have a facebook page for Unertls and Lyman Target Spots. Come visit.

We must not be talking about the same kind of "cloud" or maybe cloudy is a bad way of explaining it...I also own several of these scopes and what I am referring to I see in one out of about three. Maybe my luck is just plain bad....to see all these. As I understand it, and I don't know if it's true and not claiming it is here, the lens cells were put together with water in between the lenses{???} and then sealed shut on the edges and assembled. If the seal is compromised then the water {again???} evaporates and leaves behind a stain in between the lenses. Water, some other clear liquid chemical, or some other issue entirely, this is a problem with target Unertl scopes that I have never seen in any modern scope.
I do know of a few people that work on these things...Parsons is one, but the old fella that ran that show passed away. When he was alive it seemed like he spent as much time trying to see if the scope you sent him was stolen as he did working on it. I was told his kid has taken over...I don't know what he is spending his time doing but it took 8 months to get a new crosshair in my buddies scope.
Does he "specialize" in Unertl scopes??? Yes. Is he a viable place to send one taking 8 months to repair a crosshair??? Not for me.

There was no water used in the lenses... no water used anywhere.

The 10x Sniper scopes were nitrogen purged and waterproof. The target scopes were not. It is entirely possible for moisture to enter and "cloud" the lens.
As was stated, a persons wants will dictate the value.

First, I have 7 of them.. Second, I worked in the optics industry. Lenses are not made with water in them.

Okay, but do you have any facts that are related to the question???? Don't get me wrong here...I really don't necessarily believe there is water between the lenses. I was told that some years back, might have even been old man Parsons. Maybe I misunderstood and he was saying when the seal was compromised water got in and left the stain {makes more sense}
The guy that owns 1000 of them don't mean he knows whats between the lenses, just like "working in optics" does not equal working at Unertl back when they made these scopes.
Bottom line, you are GUESSING no, just like the other guy is guessing yes. Facts related to the question??? I am guessing no and could sure be wrong, but haven't seen one in your posts yet.

I worked in optics, at Harkness Eye Institute, Director of Research, Laser Laborities, Columbia University, NYC. In 1974, I published the third most important paper in the field.
I also co-authored the first book on treating retinal diseases with argon lasers.

What in optics would like to discuss? (Just, please make it intelligent, not dumb prattle).

Ok...we could start by discussing what the correction of human vision has to do with the objective lenses found in Unertl scopes. I am guessing just about as much as "owning 7" has to do with knowing how they are actually built. Now we are both guessing....
This is about like me claiming to be the worlds foremost authority on slingshots telling folks how a benchrest rifle is made because I work in the ballistics field.
Dude, why don't you just give it up???? You cannot change the fact that you are guessing about a scope.
Unertl fanboy or maybe Parson's fanboy...either way you really need to try and get beyond this. What i would really like to discuss about optics is why someone with your age and station in life feels the need to argue like a child {or is it troll} with another that is conceding to the issue, I don't know...but, neither do you.

A simple question from Cory comes to this.....Hope I answered your question Cory.........I'm outa here

They are easy to sell but the value is determined by the market. There was a time when Unertl was the top of the line but not anymore. I have several of them and would not sell them even though there are better scopes today. I have three children and would not take a million dollars for any of them but would not give a dime for another one.

Is this the definition of a pee match and crossing the streams? :p

Why engage in this anyhow?

Now I would suggest to the OP that he simply call or write to Cheryl at cheryl@targetshooteroptics and ask if they can get rid of the "milk" spilled between the lens...

I know this is an old post but hoping someone can shed some light on this scope. It's a 15X serial # 6765X I am leaving the last # out. Any info. would be appreciated.
