ultrasonic users: do you use a beaker?

I tried it. Cleaning seems to work better maybe because the cases all stand up now. I got a few 400 ml beakers and clean 25 6br cases at a time. it looks like 2 cycles should do it. I use a 1:75 mixture water and Citranox. 250 ml of water with 4 ml (about a teaspoon) Citranox.

Can you please direct me to a study that shows that ultrasonically cleaned cases produce better accuracy than cases that are "wiped off" and fired?

"do you use a beaker?"

Yes sir, I do, and it works just fine like you say. The machine is always clean, the cases get clean including primer pockets and the two cycles is adequate.

I use hot tap water in machine, hot tap water in beaker, a small drop of Dawn and enough citric to make a 1% (by weight) solution in the beaker, leave heater on on the machine and run a couple cycles in the cheapo Harbor Freight machine.

If I have only fifty or so to do this is the way I go and just use the stainless method on bigger batches. Because I run the tumbler for 30 minutes to get perfectly clean cases and with set up and clean up the ultrasonic takes about half as long to do fifty cases. Even though I am in no hurry, it is faster.

Are you using a glass or stainless steel beaker? Have heard SS works better than glass. Comments please?

the intent of the original post was to determine if others also used beakers when cleaning in an ultrasonic cleaner. Accuracy had nothing to do with the question.

just glass. I may have to buy smaller beakers to clean .223 cases. The one's I have now hold about 25 6br cases and double that amount of .223. maybe I'll try ss.

NO, but if it pleases someone it can't hurt.

I used 1000ml (1L) glass (Kimax) beakers in my mid-sized Hornady US and was fine for smokeless cases but worked considerably less well for BPCR. Find tumbling works better for my needs.

I use the plastic basket that came with the machine and clean 50 at a time with a mixture of water, vinegar, and a drop of dawn. Pull the basket and toss them in a bowl of water to rinse.

Do you do ANY case preperation at all?
