Ultrasonic cleaner poll

Harbor Freight and I have been very pleased!

How many 308's / .223's can you clean at a time and for how long?

The reason I ask is that I have an older "Crest" cleaner that could do 100 in about 5 min at one time, it now takes 30 min . So, it's time for a replacement.

I have a L&R 200 with heater. I tried one from Habor Freight and didn't like it. I clean 50 6BR class cases at a time, they come nice and clean.

In what time frame ever see this one from Northern tool?

I use a harbor freight US cleaner. It's works OK but I clean only 25 cases at a time using Citranox. If I did it over, I would get a Crest ultrasonic.

I clean 45-50 .308's at a time. I use vinegar for 3 8 minute cycles. I then rinse with tap water and run 1 8 minute cycle with clean water and rinse again. I then tumble for about 15 minutes to give my brass a nice shine and dry them.

I have an L & R 28 w/heat, close to 25 yrs. now and it doesn't miss a beat....I've cleaned everything from my wifes jewerly (which is what it's made for) to 4 barrel carbs off the race car over the years.

I use the L&R "weapons cleaning " solution and have to say nothing works better, how ever I have been told that Hornady solution is the same product. does anyone info on this?

Harbor Freight....you get what you pay for. I clean the ML breech plug and vent liner. gas piston in the Beretta, watch bands and small batches of cases(20-40). It is slow but it works.

I got mine off of ebay, it says Kendall on the front. I run 308s in batches of 50. My solution is vinegar, water and a drop of soap.

vinegar is acidic and eats away the sink within the brass , in most cases in alkaline solution cleans better then acidic . I have mixed TSP and dawn for a better result it doesn't leave the case is tarnished afterwards .

Dennis - Ok, you have my interest in your unit. Perhaps the commercial units are far and above the typical gun site offerings.

In addition to cleaning brass, I was looking to use a unit for cleaning gun parts from my 1911's. The Hornady didn't get the job done to my satisfaction.

What cleaning solution are you using? How long are your run times for 100 pieces of brass? Do you change out the solution each time? Does your unit have a side drain spigot?

I really like my stainless set up, but it is limited as to what I can clean. Tell me more. Thanks.

I haven't looked before, Where do you pick up TSP? What's the solution strength that you use?

Charlie, go to the link I posted. It's a fine unit. I use the cleaning solution Sharpertec suggested. I usually go 30 minutes on cleaning. I change out the solution when it looks dirty. I don't have a side drain port, but so far it's not been a problem. I have put a complete pistol in my unit. Sharpertec also sells an oiling solution just for guns. They offered me a deal I couldn't pass up. They are located in MI.

The people were very nice and accomadating. All I can say is the unit is fine, I have owned the Hornady and this is 4 times the machine. This unit does a better job than the SS tumbler, IMO. Anything else let me know.

You can get TSP at home depot or lowes or any hardware store. I mixed if I remember correctly 1.5 cups TSP and 1- Tablespoon dawn in a 5 gal bucket. gives a Ph level of about 13.5.

I now use L&R weapons cleaning solution. It is the best I have found all around.

i use the larger harbor freight
I clean 100 or so .223 cases at a time...maybe more. i toss the cases in some 1000mL borosilicate beakers with tap water, some lemonshine, and some dawn. i can fit 2 beakers in the tub. It works good enough for me, not 100% perfect...but good enough.
