Ultrasonic Cleaner Liquid

Hi, all finally purchased an ultrasonic cleaner. Has anyone out there got a Home made Recipe that really cleans and makes the brass nice and shiny?
would be much appreciated :)

Hey I don't have an answer for ya but once you give it a try you should let me know how it works out. ;D

I'm looking to buy one but I don't like the fact that there is liquid in it. Unless there is an easy way to get it back into the bottle.

Well i picked up a Hornady ultrasonic cleaner with a bottle of Hornady liquid for it. I followed the instructions and after 3 cycles as they said i was not happy with the results. After asking a few friends they advised me to use vineager and dishwashing liquid which i had tried. I was a lot happier with this recipe , internaly the brass and the primer pocket cleaned up like brand new. The only problem i had was with the case necks, they wouldnt clean up 100%.If i find a good recipe i will probably end up selling my tumbler. Its a better solution to cleaning brass and a lot quicker.

http://www.6mmbr.com/ultrasonic.html has several recipes. I find the 50% vinegar and water with a drop or two of dish soap cleaning solution works well. Neutralize the stuff by rinsing in a solution of water and sodium bicarbonate.

The best cleaner in an ultrasonic cleaner that I found is a product called citranox.
But after trying the stainless steel media method my ultrasonic cleaner has been retired. http://stainlesstumblingmedia.com/index.php Try it you'll like it.

I use hot water, a few drops of liquid dish-washing soap and a little Lemi-Shine and I am happy.

I took a look at the Stainless Steel media link video provided above and the brass in the picture sure looks clean, but I don't want to tumble for four hours and still have to rinse and dry the brass. I guess I am happy with somewhere in-between somewhat clean and super duper clean in about 30 minutes with the ultrasonic.

My experience was actually a bit different than above. I found the hornady solution produced cleaner (and shinier) brass than the vinegar solution & soap did.

Get some citric acid powder. You can find it on some of the soapmaking sites. A tablespoon in about a quart of water works well. When you're done, pour it into a container and let the black stuff settle. You can re-use it many times.

I have had good success with both LemiShine and Citronox. Citronox from Pollard Water (Google on the web for the URL) and LemiShine from Wal-Mart.

Both work for me with cases that were fired with VihtaVuori smokeless powder. You may have to experiment if you use other brands of powder. I have found that neither work with cases that were fired with black powder as in Black Powder Cartridge Rifles. Stick with dish washing liquid to clean the black powder cases.

I also have an old Thumlers Tumbler and have been looking at the stainless steel media.
