Ultrasonic Cleaner Beakers

In this article it mentions using beakers in the tank: http://www.6mmbr.com/ultrasonic.html

At the bottom they add "4. Don't let the beaker touch the any part of the tank, especially the bottom where the transducer is. The idea is to cause the brass to oscillate, not the container."

All of the pictures in the article show the beakers on the bottom of the tank apparently touching it. What's the best way to suspend or cushion the beakers? My cleaner just has a plastic tray that touches the bottom.

I use the rigid plastic containers you get in a deli. I set them on the plastic tray. Works for me. I think they mean don't let them sit directly on the tank bottom. My plastic tray is about 1/8 inch thick, with holes, like expanded metal.

I made a holder out of cored plastic (Plascore sign material) that raises it a bit above the tank bottom. I also have rubber spacers that seem to help with transfering energy into the containers. Look for the political signs after the election....

I use the foam "plates" that meat comes on from the grocery. Brats come on the thicker plates I think. Anyway I trace around the beaker with a Sharpie then Exacto knife the hole out. I use vacuum cleaner drive bands (like heavy duty rubber bands) to side up on the outside of the beaker so as to suspend it at the correct depth in the ultra sonic tank.

The cleaners I have come with a plastic tray by default... For "beakers" I use cheap walmart glasses that already have super-thin glass....perfect "feature" for the task.

I use Boreum beakers and they touch the bottom and it seems to work fine. I fill with Iosso brass case cleaner run for 15 minutes. Rinse and run with plain water for 15 minutes.

I used a made to measure spacer out of a broken diffuser taken from a recessed fluorescent fixture, the one with a 1/2 in square pattern. The glass container sits on top and seems to work great.
