Group,
I jumped on the ultra-sonic cleaning band wagon about a month or so ago. A shooting friend loaned me his industrial grade ultra-sonic cleaner. Following J Baney's methods I had great success in getting my cases cleaned inside and out.
Now here is my situation. I purchased a ultra-sonic cleaner similar to the one Jason highlighted in his article. Put together my favorite, and successful) cocktail and hit the "ON" button. The cooling fan whirls, the timer begins it's countdown but nothing is getting cleaned!!!!!!! WTF!!!!
I went thru more 480 sec cycles than I care to mention. Still nothing. My cleaning solution is a clear as it started. Cases are still dirty on the inside.
I suspect that the unit itself is defective and the transducer is not functioning correctly or at all. Correct me if I am wrong here, but shouldn't I see some evidence on/in the water in the tank that the transducer is producing the ultra-sonic waves? ON the industrial unit, I could see the surface of the water in the tank vibrating/bing disturbed. With this inexpensive unit, the water just sits there like the unit isn't even turned on. The industrial unit emitted a high pitched sound, I assume from the transducer. My unit is quiet except for the cooling fan.
HELP!!!!!!!
