Ultra Sonic Cleaning Question??

I'm about to leave the house right now to buy one of the Harbor Freight ultrasonic cleaners for $28. Why use the beakers and not the tank on the cleaner? Do you absolutely have to use the beakers? Thanks for any info. John

I use Gladware containers instead of the beakers. It's a lot easier to remove a container to drain it or take brass out than it is to deal with the whole unit.

Thanks for the head's up on the Glad container. That is a lot easier to manage than glass beakers. So far so good.

Back to the original question.

For the ultrasonic cleaner to work properly, the cases need to be suspended in the liquid. By placing them,or the beakers) on the bottom of the cleaner, they interfer with the ultrasonic wave generator.

I use a stiff corrugated cardboard piece with a hole cut in it, that just allows the beakers to be squeezed into it and this suspends the beaker within the water of the cleaner. I place the actual cleaning liquid in the beaker with the cases.

It is also much cleaner.
