Ugly Savage Elite Precision barrel markings.

The pic is a Savage Elite Precision barrel (in 6mm CM) that has either stamped or etched words with the Savage logo, caliber and "read the manual verbiage."

If anyone has one of these Elite Precisions does the above stamping/etching look rusted or burnt to you? It's almost like it was stamped or etched after the barrel coating was applied and then rusted or etched and burnt. Is this just how they come? All the pics I pulled up don't look like mine, but they are Internet pics from a distance.

Cosmetic I know, but for what you pay for these rifles I would think any markings would be a little precise also. This a "win" breakfast or lunch from the Buds type of gun.

Damn thing better shoot!

Know nothing about this model
Stainless steel barrel
Rust, actually though possible it is not impossible.
‘Damn thing Wii shoot’

And I thought I was going to see bore scope images of a washboard Savage barrel.
That’s an odd etch burn though

I have 3 of this model in various calibers and ALL of mine have the "Red/Rust" colored engraving.
All of the engraving is sharp and clear.

And they do shoot well for a factory rifle.
One of our range members shot a 2.3" 5 shot group at 500 yards this morning.

How does it shoot?
Don't know, I was waiting on a Dewy one-piece cleaning rod. The rod and Redding dies came in today, but the winds were about 60 mph and I wasn't venturing out. Cold!

I have to say that I've never had a "new bought" Savage that wouldn't shoot. Crappy feeling actions yes, but this ones smooth. Almost like a seventies era Remington. Almost.

I believe it is purposely done this way to draw out contrast, similar to what Kracken pointed out. These days, probably another "lawyer" thing.
