UBR @ Two Brothers Rifle Range-Auburn KY

You know you're dealing with some serious shooters when you get up at 4:45, drive and hour & 15 minutes to the range and when you get there you find a dozen people waiting for you.
We had an excellent turnout yesterday, the best of the season. We had only one shooter who competed in two classes and still had to do three relays. That one, Jr Rigsby, kept up his winning ways and won both Custom and Unlimited Class. I've only seen a 66 shot on one UBR 200 yard target, but Jr shot one yesterday in Unlimited. We had nine scores of 500 or better. Melvin Scott won his first yardage with a 200 yard win in Modified. Richard Alford took the 200 in Unlimited but was creedmored by Jr in the GA.

Rain & thunderstorms had been forecast right up until Saturday morning. It was forecast to rain all day, but in fact, the rain did not show up until midway through the 200 yard match. There were a couple of relays who had a hard time seeing in the rain, but in the end the only issues were some wet targets. We had two rookies, one shared a bench with me (Tom Wood) and shot very well for his first match. I'm thinking he will be back. The other, Brandon Holland, has been to several matches and decided to shoot this one. I expect to see Brandon again as well. We appreciate all our shooters and want more, even though a three relay match makes a long day.

Keith,
I'm sure it would be interesting to see and I, for one, appreciate your interest in our little game. I'll be perfectly candid about this. I direct two matches per month. Both are well over an hour from home. Which means I leave my home about 5:00AM and yesterday got back home about 6:00PM. I direct the matches, hang the targets (at Two Brothers), score the targets, enter the information in the computer, assemble the food and drink for the match, put out my own wind flags, shoot the match, buy the trophies, send match fees to UBR, keep up with supplies and most anything else that needs doing. Oh, and send out a newsletter before and after every match including the scores. I'm not at this time interested in gathering equipment lists as that would be more paper and data entry. All that being said, if you would like to know about a particular shooter, send me an email and I can probably tell you about most. I don't know everybody's stuff, but I do know most.
Not trying to be a dick, but I really have about all I can handle right now.

Rick, an equipment list with calibers would be real nice to read about.

Congratulations!

Keith C.

out of 26 rifles 17-18 are 6PPC then the rest are split pretty even 30 and 6BR with 1-2 22`s on some days,,,

thats the best thing about UBR,,with the caliber specific targets a 30BR doesnt have any advantage over a 22PPC ,,,

Thanks for all your input, Rick! You have answered my question already.
Keith,
after seeing Eric's reply I remembered that the caliber is actually on the score sheets I posted. Currently all the 30's are 30BR with one 30 Major occasionally. 3/4s of all are PPCs. Modifieds are Remington or Savage. Yesterday Factory was two Coopers, one Savage and a Remington. Customs are everything from a Hall to Pandas, Borden, BAT, you name it. Unlimited is mostly heavy barrel custom actions. I think I have the only Unlimited Remington, a sleeved XP in 220 Beggs. I also shoot a sleeved Remington 722 6 Beggs in Modified class. Feel free to contact me with any questions but I'm pretty sure we won't be doing any equipment lists any time soon.

my old beater rifle is a Terry Leonard stocked with an old Farley dual port action glued in,,I have 6PPC and 6BR barrels for it,,and a 40xLCS Leupold scope,,

I was having sever pain in my right arm from an old rotator cuff surgery that never healed right after surgery a couple years ago,,my elbow was really hurting and my forearm was on fire and my hand was numb and I didnt have any control over my fine motor skills in my trigger hand,,it is hard to explain but when trying to squeeze off a shot I couldnt keep my hand from shaking and was jerking shots all over and just shot 2 targets and went home,,

I been trying to put off anymore surgery but I cant have this crap hindering my shooting,,,,Momma said it sounded like when she had carpel tunnel but I just figured it was my bum shoulder,,but I am gonna have the Dr look at my wrist also,

I am 50 years old and been working like a dog since I was 8-9,,and it is catching up to me,,

any yall the praying kind could say one for my right arm as I would go insane if I cant shoot to what I think I should be able to,,

I wondered why you left early, I thought it might have been something wrong w/your rifle. Didnt think about a physical
problem. LDS

I sure hope I can get back in time to try some bullets Larry Moore is starting to make this year,,probably need a new 12 twist bbl for them

Just took a couple months off to get caught up around the place and have been building a range to practice on. We plan on being at Buck Creek in 2 weeks for sure! Troy
