Ubr ranges

Does anyone have any insight who shoots ubr matches in or around Ohio checked ubr site but couldn’t find anything in Ohio would love to have something close to shoot ppc thanks in advance for any help

We shoot a rimfire match, 1 card, then a UBR match, 1distance, monthly. Generally a 100yd match but occasionally shoot 200. Our last match of the year is both 100 & 200yd distances UBR. Sprinkle in some groundhog shoots also.
Not exactly close, approximately 2-2.5hr drive from Columbus to the northern panhandle of WV depending where you’re located.

UBR hasn't released their 2026 schedule yet. By mid February it is usually at least partially released.

The one in Farmland and the one at Forked run are both a couple hour's drive..... but worth it. WD

Below Wheeling WV, approximately 20 minutes, just outside Moundsville city limits.

In the past, we shoot on the second Saturday of the month. Rimfire starts at 8 AM, followed by the UBR. Imagine this will be the same this year. Flooding pushed us back last year into May or June for the opener.

Move south!! I'm in Central Kentucky and have 3 ranges within an hour, had I tried to plan it (moving to be close to ranges,) it would never have worked out!
Well I’m 40 kids wife and thriving business so unless you know someone who will buy me out lol can’t move but traveling a few hours is no problem I’ll look around Kentucky and try them also Thank you for the information

I have had a good time shooting matches at Forked Run in the past. Bring a longish flag stand with you for the 200 yard agg. Hope this helps.

DM me for a phone # (everyone else on here has mine), and I'll be glad to help.

Keep your eye out for Chippewa Rifle Range, not too far from Akron. They held their first match there this year and I believe the plan is to do it again next year, but not sure. The range is top shelf for BR shooting. Lots of benches. Plenty of space to spread out your stuff.

Braxton County in WV is another good place to shoot. They have monthly matches. Nice bunch of guys to shoot with. Probably a good piece from your house.

Contact me if I can be of help.

If you are open to NBRSA matches as well there are four in Ohio next year. Chippewa has 2 NBRSA matches on the schedule for next year ( May 30-31 & September 12-13). There is also NBRSA matches in Shelby County OH (August 1-2 & September 26-27).

In the same position as you, only I'm located in Wisconsin. There are no organized matches other than a couple private clubs that offer some ELR Bench matches that are open to the public. Nothing short range.

I shoot at a Public DNR range that offers 100/200/300yd ranges which is also the largest public range in the state. Well-equipped to hold Matches. It has the space and the distances.

I have entertained establishing a Match set at this range and engaged with many of the folks who are running matches and the UBR itself for insight and pointers on getting started. They were all very helpful and willing to provide assistance. I was very encouraged!

The difficulties arose with trying to deal with the range management. Though they all thought it was a great idea. They were not very supportive of trying to get this started. Seemed the attitude I received from them was, Great, go ahead and see what you can do but you are on your own and we as Management are not going to get involved or invest any resources. Even setting aside range space looked as though it would be difficult to achieve, seeing it is a public range owned by the State. Even for just one day per month.

I still hold a deep interest in doing this, just going to take time and more effort in dealing with range management along with the private winter rifle league we shoot there just lost its long-time manager along with all past records. So, I have agreed to take it over and try and rebuild it.

For myself, the drive to Kentucky is about 7hrs each way. Quite a drive for a weekend event.

Here it is not so much a matter of letting as it is of allowing it to shut down or even just reserving a number of spaces as this range does shut down to operate Registered Sporting Clays Matches. Guess through this there is money to be made for them.
