man that UBR target is a challenge,,I think I actually got an adrenaline rush more than once and I was for sure concentrating on something harder than I had in a long time,,probably sounds goofy to some of you old competition shooters but at the young age of 49 and having shot rifles my whole life and none telling how many rounds this was only my Second organized match of any kind,,I started out kinda shaky and got in a hurry when I would have had plenty of time and shot some bad conditions,I calmed down on my 2nd target and shot a 65 on my 3rd,,
after a shaky start I finished 6th at 100 with a 254 and actually won the 200 stage with a 241,and finished 4th overall at 495,,to say I was tickled to death would be an understatement,,after shooting my first match with an 8 twist 6BR bbl and shooting really bad I had Tim Claunch do me a 6PPC bbl for the Farley/Leonard rifle and bought a set of FF Flags and shot about 500 rounds PPC over the flags and went back and shot a 495 first try with the PPC,, I think I will get my goal of shooting a 500 agg this summer and my second goal may take longer,,I hope I dont come off wrong but my next goal is shooting a 264 in a Match at 100 yards,,I know it has been done so it isn`t impossible,,
a BIG THANX to Rick for all the hard work he puts in running a good match and the great atmosphere all the people at Gallatin produce for new shooters and especially people like me that are kinda loaners and dont really like being in a crowd of people,,and to me 50 is a crowd,
hopefully Rick will be by to post a full report but all that matters to me is I had a blast and cant wait to get back to try to hit my first goal at a 500 agg and the chase for the 264 100 yard clean,,
anybody that hasnt tried the UBR Match and shoots 600 or 1000 yard BR dont knock this till you try it,,just because it is only 100,200,300 yards doesnt mean it is any easier than shooting at longer range,,most 600 yard rifles with a 6PPC or 30BR bbl would make a killer UBR rifle,
sorry for the long post but man this stuff is the most fun I had shooting since the first time I hit the 1525 yard gong with the TRG42 338LM at Rockcastle,Ky about 5 years ago,,
and yeah Rick I am hooked,,line and sinker,,
