UBR build

Full length 22ppc and be done. There are a bunch of them being used in UBR with great results. Pass over the 52 gr bullets and shoot 55-57 gr bullets with n135 powder. You will not be disappointed!
No one I know of is shooting the 22br in UBR.
The short versions of the 22ppc require a lot more work forming brass.
But this is all just my opinion.

So, a 12 twist barrel would be a good choice?

What action are you going to use and what class are you wanting to shoot in UBR?
custom, modified, or unlimited
I have a Savage action available to rebarrel. Modified class. kevin Rayhill made the stock for me yrs ago. I'm just going to be shooting local matches. I'm new to it and shot my first match yesterday with a neighbors 223 rifle. Won the first match, then shot 63 and 61. The loads had been on the shelf for 2 yrs and loaded for varmint hunting with CFE-223. Working up better loads next week. May change to 6ppc. Neighbor says he cant get 22 bullets due to jacket shortage. He has been waiting on some custom 22 bullets for 2 years

100/200, ! bet the ol' 221 Fireball would be worth playing with.
I could envision an 18" barrel and a straight bull......

Gotta test. That's how we know stuff! Parameters are set. We know within a small range of case design and capacity of what works. But I truly believe this hair can be split right down to specific lots of powders, at this point. Slower powder, larger capacity or slightly heavier bullet, etc. What we have and what we know is damn good but I wouldn't call anything the end all, be all cartridge. We're at the mercy of the powder mfgs. Perfect is, as perfect does but shooting the difference is harder than ever before.

Lots of things being done in head to head UBR matches that you don't see most places. Head to head tells the tale better than anything. At the moment and for about the last 18 months, a 22 of some sort, mostly straight 22 ppc, has been kicking tails and taking names...fwiw. It pays to stay on top of changes in the game is all I'll say. I know several people building guns around a specific 22 cal bullet.
