Two for one!

Joe C

Student of the 1911.
Well, I've been hunting deer with a bow for nearly 20 years now and had a first today. I harvested two very nice does out of the same stand within about 30 minutes of each other. The first one was found about 150 yards from where I shot her and the second was found about 20 yards from where I shot her. The last time I hunted this stand was about three weeks ago and they busted me due to movement at about 08:30. This time I was expecting them to come from the same direction and when they came I wasn't really sure a doe was what I was after. But at 15 and 10 yards each it's hard to pass them up...so I didn't!

It was a great morning and they will be good eating. One was probably a 2.5 year old and the other was about 9 months old. All in all a great day!

Nice shooting Joe!
I did the same thing a couple saturdays ago. Two arrows, two does for a friend's freezer.

I moved up to the Rage Extreme broadhead this year and while the older 2 and 3 blade heads were good, the Extreme is amazing. First doe was slightly quartering towards me, 20 yards away. Hit her at the point of the shoulder and the arrow exited low on opposite rear leg passing through the entire lenth of the body. She went about 100 yards. The second was broadside at 15 yards, shot through shoulder, it went about 50 yards.

I have never been a game hog, well excluding prairie dogs, pheasants, coyotes, foxes, squirrels, etc. , OK, I can be a game hog at times. As a motorcyclist, it felt good to knock back the ditch rat population a little. Too many deer in the suburbs of MN where the wolves have not moved to YET.

Way to go Joe.. I took a pass on deer hunting this yr and am regretting that decision almost every minute for the past month and will for the next month.. (issues with people where I have hunted the past 6 yrs - in-laws/in-laws)

Thanks for sharing the pix and stoking my fire for next yr.. Take some more of those NE river valley pix to share..

Thanks guys for all the kind words. Got some great news today. Secured about 1000 acres of prime hunting land all within 5 minutes of my house! That puts me up to around 2500 acres now around here. Feels good to have plenty of options.

effendude, I totally understand. We have WAY to many deer around here. I'm going to try to fill my freezer and several friends freezers before it is all over. I switched to the 100g Slick Tricks last year. They leave a HUGE hole in and out with four blades and I can replace the blades as needed. Better than anything I've ever used.

Jonbearman, no sir it is my old PSE Mach Flight. Everyone gives me a hard time about it because it is about 25 years old but you know what? It keeps harvesting deer!

Nodak7mm, sorry to hear you aren't hunting this year. Perhaps next year you will get to make a trip down here to shoot one of our "hill" deer, if you're not to busy. ;-)
