What Donovan said.

I'll go one better and suggest that you think about a 10 twist. That way you'll never have to worry about shooting any bullet at any altitude. I have a 10 twist Lilja in a short 300 Mag and I don't think it handicaps me in any way.

But, I'd definitely advise something like Donovan recommended.

Go with a 10 twist. It's what I had in the 3 barrels I had on my 300WM and shoots everything great. That said look hard at the heavier bullets, like the 208 AMAX, as you get a better BC, .647, and you can get them moving out at 2900+fps. Run those numbers and they are very nice at 1000 yards especially the wind.

10 twist seems to be the ticket for happiness on this chambering.

Hey Rob1 good to see you hanging around this site too.

I second on the 10 twist. I have a 9 twist in mine cause I like to shoot the 200's and up to the 240's. Under 200 and it dont like that fast a twist. I have heard the 10 twist will shoot the 240's quite well.

It does but I like to stick with the 208s as the BC is good and you can get them moving out.
