Twist rate for fast 115 dtac

I recently received a Broughton that i ordered a while ago, and mistakenly ordered a 7 twist, rather than a 7.5. I am shooting the 115 at 3200-3300, and the 107 at around 2800 - 3000. Do I have a problem? I am not familiar with a 7 twist - BTW, it is 28" Palma contour.

7 will be fine. In fact, I prefer to err on the side of too much twist, hardly any downsides) instead of on the side of not enough, plenty of downsides).

If it's a true 6mm 8 twist it should shoot them fine, at least it did in 3 different 1:8" twist barrels I have,2 Harts and 1 Kostyshyn). Keep in mind, some of the 5c Broughton 1:8" twist barrels were, are) not 1:8" twist barrels, but are more in the range of 1:8.25" to 1:8.5" twist. These generally will not stabilize the 115's. I found this out the hard way, I ordered 2 of these barrels, had them chambered up in 6XC, went to shoot the 115's and they would not group at all, however all 105 -107 gr bullets shot well. After going round and round on this I finally measured my barrel twist only to discover the twist of the barrels was not a 1:8" twist.

45acp...you are shooting the 6CM correct?

1:7" twist is fast given your velicities. However, it should work fine. If I were you I would have ordered a 1:8".

As you know we are shooting 1:7.5" in the Kreigers that are working very good.

I would go with a 1-7.5 Twist as mentioned. Its kinda like the 6.5, 1-8 or 1-9...how about split it same thing here. Lean on the side of playing it safe.

RHINOUT!

hope you guys are wrong about the broughten 1/8 barrels.I will be braking in a 243wssm this weekend with 115 bergers and 115tubs.:confused:will let you know if they go sideways at 1k.I sure hope not, should be driving them 3150-3200 in a 30"er.
