Twist rate for 308

Hey, I just won a Thompson/Center compass in 308 at my gun club raffel (ticket #13).

Spec's say 1:12 twist rate for 22" barrel.

I have been shooting 6.5 CM out to 600 yds using a 140 Gr Hornady match bullet.

i have some 308, 168 Hornady Match bullets will the 1:12 twist work with these?

I do reload all my ammo.

Yes. 168s will go in just about any twist but it will probably be better with 150s. Check the Berger site. I think they have a twist / bullet calculator.

Yes sir, should shoot real good.
You should be able to go up to 175- 180gr
With no issues.

I’ve shot up to 185gr Berger Juggernauts in a 1-12” twist with good results. 168’s are certainly fine.

I use 1:12 for 155-165 grainers in my one .308

1-12 is ideal for you application. 1-10 is ok also. Drive on.
